What is a good army list for imperial guard?
Thats a bit like saying what is a good woman? Is there one? Even a seemmingly great one has faults you never see until you er use it.
There are 3 main types of List you can do for Guard
1: Mechanised. Loads of tanks. All the infantry are in transports. Very nasty and it's one thing the Guard excel at.
2: Infantry hoard. A total gunline army. Loads of guns. Loads of men. More than most armies can cope with.
3: Hybrid army. A bit of both.
Your best best is to traul the armylist forum and have a look at other peoples lists. read the comments and advise and make a list for your own.
On a more serious note, this is an overly broad question, quite easily answered by (shock horror!!!) putting in a very small amount of effort and reading something. Even the codex has ideas for different types of army.
However I am of the opinion it is more about the player than the list. Something will only be truely good if you know how to use it. For example quite a popular troop choice is a veteran squad with 3 meltas in a chimera with a multi laser and a heavy flamer. It is good if you know what to do with it but quite useless if you don't.
Read some stuff on the forums, buy the codex, have a try at making some lists, if you want post them up on here. If they get pulled to shreds don't worry, take the advice and try again. Asking people to retype all the combined knowledge about guard is a bit silly...
That is all...
Storm Troopers-10, 2 flamers
PCS-powerfist, platoon standard, krak grenades, commissar w/ powerfist
Infantry-flamer, krak grenades (x2)
Rough Riders-10, Mogul Kamir
Vanquisher-Heavy Flamer Sponsons
1500 of pure ownage.
Is the armored sentinel equipped with the default gun? I may save this list for later, it looks incredibly great, and I may even sacrifice my ever-burning love of tanks (It's my policy to start the game with relatively little squishies compared to my iron-skinned beasts of war) for the sheer cheesiness that is ==His== list.
J/k. To the OP, in case you missed it ==Me== was being sarcastic with his post (I hope).
Space Marines: W15/L7/D3
Imperial Guard: W6/L4/D0
It doesn't matter which weapon the Armored Sentinel has, it's going to be running all game straight into combat with the first MC or powerfist it can find.
==ME== Thats the best army list i've ever seen you write.

Now now gentlemen, let us not start another argument over something as worthless as this.
Step 1: Buy a codex
Step 2: Write a list
Step 3: Try list out/post it online for review
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Play the game and have fun
You know I was joking, right?
Best way to get a handle is to pick up a Codex, flip through things, give yourself some ideas, search around for lists/topics that tickle your fancy, get more ideas, then open it up for discussion. The hardest part of starting a new army is figuring out what you want to use and what you will get the most mileage out of. Everybody has a different style of play or taste in units, but starting off with a framework (looking at other lists, using advice) will help you develop your own style.
