    1500 Imperial Guard... balanced?

I've experimented with several combos with mixed results... I know good dice rolls are what win the day, but I've found I'd either be lacking enough range or not enough punch when I needed it most at times...

I've put together this list based upon my experiences my last 10 games I've played against my friends (who are Chaos Space Marines, Space Wolves, Crimson Fist, Tyranids, and Eldar)

    CCS-100
    Powerfist
    Regimental Standard
    2X Meltaguns
    (all others have Laspistols)

(I know I'll get slammed for this setup, but if anyone else can come up with a way to destroy a demon prince or carnifex that plows into your gunline, I'm all ears)

    Primaris Psyker-70

(Again I know this guy isn't at the top of most people's lists, but I figured I need something that puts out a decent amount of shots at 3 feet, plus his force weapon is a bonus)

    Marbo-65

(I love this guy! Every game I play he drops double if not more than his point value!!! Wish he had better armour though... once he becomes a problem for the other side he's usually killed in a snap)

    1st Vet Squad-155
    3X Meltguns
    Chimera (Multi-Laser and Heavy Bolter)

    (standard, but it works)

    2nd Vet Squad-155
    3X Meltguns
    Chimera (Multi-Laser and Heavy Bolter)

    (standard, but it works)

    PCS-50
    Heavy Bolter
    2 X Grenade Launchers
    (all others have Lasguns)

(same as the pyker... need something not too threatening but puts out some serious gunfire and wounds)

    1st Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon
    2nd Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon
    3rd Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon
    4th Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon

    (standard, but it works)

    Devil Dog-120
    Hull Mounted Heavy Bolter

(I know people hate on this tank, but I needed something else in place of the CCS with meltaguns I usually roll with, besides my scatter die rolls "HIT" like 90% of the time... I've got the touch :-)

    Scout Sentinel-40
    Autocannon
    Scout Sentinel-40
    Autocannon

(Never used these before... but I figured I'd outflank with them and hopefully get some rear armor shots or just have some more guns with awesome range to pick apart whatever...)

    Leman Russ Demolisher Tank-165
    Hull Mounted Heavy Bolter
    Leman Russ Demolisher Tank-165
    Hull Mounted Heavy Bolter

    (standard, but it works)

    Medusa Siege Tank-135
    Hull Mounted Heavy Bolter

(never used one of these either... it has a 3 foot range and hits as hard as a demolisher)

    At 4 feet I'm annoying...

At 3 feet I'm forcing a lot of saves...

At 2 feet I'm mostly deadly...

Those fexes and demons are pretty much awful when they hit you. With the relatively new dex I'm still trying to figure out whether I want to keep stuff cheap enough that it matters less when they hit you or actually try to spend points to combat them. I still might go with the old tactic.

A few flanking autocannon sentinels range from good to priceless depending on who you play. I wouldn't load up on them but I love have a 1-3 squadron of them around.

I would take heavy flamers on the demolishers instead of heavy bolters. They are free and complement the forward momentum that the demolishers have. Considering that the Medusa has no "lumbering behemoth" rule and the fact that a heavy flamer is free you might consider a Heavy Flamer on it too depending on where you might set it up. If something gets to close to you, or you get a weapon destroyed result, it could make a deference where a heavy bolter could just be negligible.

You can't point individual unit cosst, you can put it with upgrades as a total but not on their own for copyright reasons in any forum.

    CCS-100
    Powerfist
    Regimental Standard
    2X Meltaguns
    (all others have Laspistols)
Have you thought of 3x plasma gun? + the standard. it's much better. I wouldn't take in a power fist, cc with guard means dinner with the devil. Plus a chiemra would let them live longer and be harder to kill.

    Primaris Psyker-
Read above and he doesn't contribute that much to games. his points could be used much better elsewhere

    Marbo-
I have no problems with him in any list.

    1st Vet Squad-155
    3X Meltguns
    Chimera (Multi-Laser and Heavy Bolter)

    (standard, but it works)

    2nd Vet Squad-155
    3X Meltguns
    Chimera (Multi-Laser and Heavy Bolter)

    (standard, but it works)
    PCS-50
    Heavy Bolter
    2 X Grenade Launchers
    (all others have Lasguns)
They really need some mobility and protection, a chimera will do that just nicely.
I would also give them melta guns.
    1st Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon
    2nd Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon
    3rd Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon
    4th Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon
    good

    Devil Dog-120
    Hull Mounted Heavy Bolter
multiple melta guns are better than a blast less range i know, but these guys are easy to kill and will be targetted by anti-tankers.
    Scout Sentinel-40
    Autocannon
    Scout Sentinel-40
    Autocannon
Vendettas my boy, vendettas are the way to go .
    Leman Russ Demolisher Tank-165
    Hull Mounted Heavy Bolter
    Leman Russ Demolisher Tank-165
    Hull Mounted Heavy Bolter
Since these guys will be relatively up close and they are only BS3, heavy flamers would do very nicely as you lack anti-horde at the moment.

    Medusa Siege Tank-135
    Hull Mounted Heavy Bolter
Leave the anti-tank to leman russes, melta guns and lascannons. for everything else, there's a wall of guardsmen, chimeras and marbo .

I would fit all chimeras with heavy flamer hull and pintle mounted multi-laser. for good anti-hrode and anti-light tank. I don't use vets for my balanced list, but others do, i prefer cheaper PCS to do the job, because they get more guns, are better than BS4 because they can twin-link them and get your tank/MC to re-roll cover saves . Isn't that savy?

    hope my advice helps!

    thanks

I wish I had the funds to get some Valks...

    Marbo-65

    1st Vet Squad-155
    3X Meltaguns
Chimera (Multi-laser & Hull Heavy Bolter)

    2nd Vet Squad-155
    3X Meltaguns

    1st Infantry Squad-60
    Autocannon
    2nd Infantry Squad-60

    Hull Heavy Flamer

do you have another chimera? if not give a chimera to your PCS from your vets and have one vets squad infiltrating with harker or someone. Do you also have one more russ? another demolisher would fill in nicely and a falg for your CCS.
    thanks

Stick heavy flamers on every tank, the added flexibility and horde murder is well worth it.

I would drop the Sentinels for 2 Hellhounds with multi-meltas. They're fast, versatile, and fairly cheap. You can lost an infantry squad too if points are tight. A commissar would be handy too in case you want to blob up for KP games.

I can see its kind of hard for you all to guess what I have and make suggestions based upon information you don't have so I'll list what I have... then maybe you can help me put together a solid list...

1 Company Commander (and all the advisors)
    1 Commissar Yarrick
1 Techpriest (plus 4 servitors with servo arms)

    1 Primarias Psyker
    1 Marbo
    2 Commissars
    1 Lord Commissar
    2 Priests
    1 Creed
    1 Kell
    1 Straken
    1 Al Rahem
    1 Chenkov
    1 Company Standard Bearer
    1 Platoon Standard Bearer
Enough infantry to make 5 full squads
    1 full vet squad
1 Storm Trooper Squad (only have 6 men, plus 2 meltagun versions)
    3 Ogryn
    5 Ratlings
    4 Vox Guardsmen
    6 Sniper Guardsmen
    8 Grenade launcher Guardsmen
    4 Plamsgun Guardsmen
    10 Meltagun Guardsmen
    4 Autocannon Heavy Weapons Teams
1 Heavy Bolter Heavy Weapons Team
2 Missile Launcher Heavy Weapons Teams
    1 Lascannon Heavy Weapons Team

2 Hydras will usually kill a DP before he gets to you. But if he does, take meltas to finish him off.

    Edit:

If you don't feel like converting some Hydras, that infantry blob with the autocannons should be able to do the trick with a twin-link order.
