    1500 mech tourny

    Hi, it is one of my first attempt on IG for a coming tournament.

    HQ
    CCS 4melta 145
    Chimera heavy flamer

    Troops

    Veteran squad 3 meltas 155

    (goes in the walkirie)

    Here it is. No particular restrictions. What do you think of this? What should i add?
    There is 30 pts left that i do not know what to do with.

    Not bad at all. I'd suggest dropping one of the tanks in the squadron. 3 Tanks at 1500 is plenty. I might also suggest another Valkyrie/Vendetta so you don't have all your eggs in one basket.

    Drop one from the squadron for sure; that is more or less giving your opponent an extra chance to kill one of your tanks.

    Your hellhound is actually 150, not 145.

    I would drop HB from that if you are keeping it as a valk, you should be moving valkyries 12" and that gives you one weapon and the rockets, you want that one weapon to be your ML. Alternatively, you could make it a vendetta.

    Definitely try and work in demolitions on your melta vets which you want in the valk.

    hellhounds' multimelta are +15 for me so i do not understand why the total would cost 150.
    What should i put instead? An extra walkirie? a combat psyker squad (what is the right size for them?) more troops?
    Ok for removing the HB from the walkirie. Does the 2 hellstrike missiles worth it? or the rocket launcher is much better?
    The demolition is quite expensive imo but maybe it is worth it.

    Aye, sorry, I usually put smoke Launchers on my hellhounds so I forgot they are only 125 base

    Another valkyrie is always a good idea, but if you go that route go 2 vendettas. When it comes to the flyers, 2 is better than 1, always.

    No, they are 145, total, with the MM. Smoke would make them 150.

    You're on the right track, but you need at least one more scoring unit. The Vet Squad should really have 3 flamers + Demolitions for killing big nasty units and siezing objectives.

    You need more long-range anti-tank, and as others have said Russ squadrons are a major no-no.

    1) Swap the Valkyrie for a Vendetta and give the vets inside flamers + demo.
    2) Swap the Russ squadron for another Vendetta with Demo/Flamer Vets. That should leave you with 80 pts to spare.
    3) Take an Astropath for your CCS.
    4) Drop the plasma on the Vet squad so you can take Marbo.

    Think of Marbo as the Guard Assassin. His Job is to kill something dear to your opponent and then suck up an inordinate amount of attention to distract your opponent. You put him in reserve at the start of the game (no choice, his rules say you have to). When he comes on you can put him anywhere you like with no scattering. He then gets to throw a demo charge with a very low scatter due to his BS5. He can then go after tanks with his meltabombs, snipe models with his AP2 pistol, or cut up squads with his poisoned knife.

    Tactically, here's what you do:

    Put Marbo in cover next to a unit you want to nuke. Lob the demo charge at them. Kill stuff.

    If Marbo survives your opponent's return fire without having to go-to-ground (for a 2+ cover save), then you're free to start charging tanks or assaulting units. This is usually when he goes on a crazy killing spree, so it's doubly important that your opponent kill him ASAP.

    Yeah sorry, but Russes aren't a primary choice anymore. They're just a support unit in a codex where the Chimeltas and Vendettas rule the roost.
