As the name says, this is a 1000 point army. I'm up against tyranids, and also footslogging guard. (I don't have to worry about deepstrikers, knowing my opponents' armies quite well.) When I'm facing something with armour I'll add a couple of dreads and maybe the meltas and transports for my ISTs. At the moment the psycannons and plasma will handle light armour if there is any.
Grand Master w. psy
- 4 terminators (1 psy)
Inquisitor w. psycannon
- 3 gun servitors, 1 PC, 2 HB
- 2 sages
Inquisitor with terminator armour and psycannon (to join PAGK, terminator armour so he can move and fire)
5 storm troopers
- 1 grenade launcher
- 1 flamer
- krak grenades
5 storm troopers
- 2 plasma guns
9 grey knights
1000 points exactly.
Would really appreciate thoughts on how competitive a list like this might be. I have never thought of putting an inquisitor into the PAGK but read it somewhere on these forums and liked the idea of having an assault psycannon with them, and since they will be walking alot the mobile firepower will come in very handy! Please let me know what changes you would recommend, and whether you think I am wasting points on pointless upgrades and how you would spend them instead.
Thanks in advance!
A good list especially against IG although you do face being outnumbered very easily. If playing against IG you could probably not equip your Stormtroopers with plasmas; 2 more troopers will be better since normal IG troopers only have a 5+ save. You might want to down grade your Grand Master to a Brother Captain as well, unless you have to take down some high toughness monstrous creatures with his force weapon. Plus you could change your Inquisitors for Grey Knights; the more numbers you can get the better, very true when your playing with Grey Knights. I wouldn't say you would be wasting points if you didn't, its just that Grey Knight would be even better. Still a good list and some interesting ideas about inquisitors in termie armor
You can't out shoot guard, don't even try, just get in there and beat them down in CC.
Try and get some more meltas in for taking out tanks, if he surprises you with any armour then your dead.
Well, there is a number of things I think should be adressed to make this list "competitive".
I believe you lack delivery system for any of your forces. A shooty squad will dismantle your force piece by piece. Sadly GK are not as competitive as they should be in accordance to the fluff.
Lets first look at this: a shooty list should have enough firepower to make your opponent come to you. Sadly this is not the case here , a person with a predator or any AV12+ tank will sit in his deployment with it and pick out your troops one by one. Should you want to destroy a said tank you have no way of getting within the range unless your opponent is posessed by something foul and is losing his mind, but than again you would not fight him unless there are some daemonic powers afoot!
Shrouding is not as reliable as it should be, sure it may protect you a bit but will not matter much in a long run.
- GM at such a small point limit might be taking too much points for the benefit that he is giving. Maybe using the extra points for some transport would be a nice idea, or even buffing your squad's body count for that matter. If you also insist on this squad, give GM/BC's friends some thunderhammers, you already have a decent amount of high str-high ini attacks, but you lack abysmally in the AT department, our thunderhammers have very tricky rules to them as well, they are a godsent against MCs and any nasties of this sort.
- Inquisitor in terminator armour and GK squad. Maybe there is a point in splitting the squad in 2 smaller squads, one with 2 psycannons and an inquisitor without the terminator armour, so it will be a 3 psycannon squad; you will have to be very careful with positioning it, its targets have to be just within full range of psycannons so you can benefit from shrouding as much as you can. Second squad can be buffed by 2-4 guys and footslog, or do other tricksy things you have in mind. The points can be taken from the GM downgrade and drop of terminator armor.
- Storm troopers, very few men with very poor save will not give any productive result. These chaps will die to a single bolter dril. If you have a rhino to drive them around, it would be most useful imo and provide at least some measure to anti-tank mobility should you also equip them with melta guns.
I dont mean to pound on your list like that but you do have very low chances against anything that has ranged vehicles.
Hope this helped, CHeers,
get rid of the inquistor and storm troopers, and just get more PAGK or termies man, trust... maybe get a transport for them too, or a land raider.
