So after some advice from the forums I've switched it up a little.
I've decided to go with.
HQ 1x command squad. 2 plasma guns.
2x 20 guardsmen, commissar with power sword and plasma pistol 2 plasma guns, Vox, Frag grenades.
1x 10 gaurdsmen, lascannon, Vox 2x grenade launcher.
1x 10 gaurdsmen lascannon, Vox 2x grenade launcher. Maybe drop the lascannons to save points.
HWS x 18 autocannons split into 6 autocannon teams. maybe a vox?
HWS x9 Mortars split into 3 mortar teams... maybe a master of ordnance for them?
3 scout sentinels with autocannons- possibly hunter killer missiles.
Heavy Support: Now i'll either here go with either 1 or maybe 2 Leman Russ Vanquishers (is this viable; can i convert the turret to vanquisher and count as a regular leman russ? I am okay with this).. IF i went with the leman Russ's i'd keep them low points, no side sponsons, HB main sponson and extra armor.
Or i'll go with no vanquishers and possibly just go with 2 Chimeras as my armour.
Also I realize how good flamers are; want to go without them though for my army theme... besides I've always been happy with plasma and mass lasguns... seeing as half of all players are SM
Also I may be lacking a bit in the infantry department, and may need some hardened veterans for tank destruction purposes.
Also thinking of adding a squad of rough riders into the army if it's viable.

Ok, here a few pointers. Hope they help.
I'd try to squeeze a few more weapons in here, take full advantage of that BS4, and seeing as you like infantry take a regimental standard.
I think you are missing a Platoon Command Squad. Check your codex again, you need one of these in an infantry platoon. You could also do with revising your squads and their special weapons. You've got a bit muddled here I think. The numbers of squads/weapons is wrong.
In any case, expensive weapons like lascannons and plasma guns are a bad choice for BS3 models. Grenade launchers are good and reliable, and cheap.
Great, but don't bother with the missiles.
Vanquishers are good anti-tank, but they suffer from low BS and not being versatile. I would prefer to use demolishers, or even standard LR's.

I forgot to include the platoon command squads, this is due to my lack of codex.. I think i'll take all the command squads with plasma guns/lascannons to take advantage of that BS4... switch my standard Infantry over to grenade launchers. will take a regimental standard ( love the look).
for the heavy support, could i model it as a vanquisher and count it as a leman russ? If i do get leman russ's they will be converted.. also Vanquisher can fire regular rounds and tank peircing rounds; is this not worth it for the point cost? seems pretty versatile to me.
As for fast attack I likely won't bother with the missiles, was just an idea...
Basically i'm taking all of your suggestions into account except I will keep 4 plasma guns amongst my 2 squads of 20, my reason being they are my go-get it guys and will likely be close enough to rapid fire, i really think the plasma guns will pay for themselves.. especially since most my enemies will be in power armor.
I may go with leman russ's instead of vanquishers, two cheap ones with no side sponsons, only upgrade extra armor.
I won't go with a demolisher; i know theyre great and effective but for my theme I don't really want one.

If you go with the stock russ, go with a hull lascannon, and skip the extra armour. extra armour is too expensive for what it does.
wouldn't the HB do a better job at killing infantry for cheaper?
As for the extra armor, could drop that if it isn't worth it; I was thinking since I only have 2 tanks extra armor although overpriced as it may be would add some survivability for still decently cheap tanks.
Sorry for all the threads, after lots of input from the community It's come down to this as my list... Keep in mind I still don't have a codex so it may be a bit off.. can you tell me if it is viable for tournament play? I don't have anything yet, but am pretty set on buying 2 cadian battleforce's and doing some conversions to make this army.

I'm afraid I may have to take either one or both of my hardened veteran squads without the lascannons or plasma guns and just take meltas instead; would be fine with this and would probably convert them to anti tank rifles for my WW2 theme. Possibly thinking of giving each squad of hardened vets a chimera too.
Hopefully this will be my last thread on this subject.. and hopefully i'll be posting some pics of my army soon..
BTW this list should roughly add up to 1000 points, don't have a codex yet so couldn't figure it out precisely.
Considering taking out the roughriders for another squad of guardsmen, my army is looking kind of small for a guard all infantry army.
Also considering taking a master of ordnance for my mortars? any good?
This army is for a ww2 theme, so don't want to use flamers.. would really like to include the rough riders.
The idea of this army is to cut off his lines of movement with his more mobile lighter vehicles/transports/units with autocannon fire, forcing him to move somewhere predictable. Took massive ammounts of plasma for power armor,as at least 50% of armies have it.
Use the sentinels to pester/harass him and as mobile snipers.. Use the rough riders as a counter attack to their charge... or a last ditch unit against some armor. Lascannons should be able to deal with most armor, if i go against AV 13 or 14 thats what the two squads of vets with meltas are for.
Hopefully my fearless commissar unit can hold off whatever's needed long enough for me shoot hsi army to peices... If they're not slaughtered then maybe I could use them later to take objectives or as needed. In essence though its a standard IG gunline without armored support, do you think I can pull it off? I think this army is fairly balanced, and geared a little more towards beating power armor which I find makes it even more balanced as power armor is so common.

Generalaz, this is the third army list in 24 hours that I've had to move from the main IG forum.
