    Ravenwing

I have two of the ravenwing box sets and am getting a third in the near future. I was going to just make a regular vanilla marine list but have been thinking a lot of dark angels. I figure they will be getting a new dex in the next year making them awesome again and I was looking through the old dex and found some interesting things that I hadn't realized before and wanted to try out. First the ravenwing are fearless which granted could be as much a problem as a help but hey would be nice to not have to make morale rolls. Second and biggest for me is the scout move they get. They can't turboboost during it since the dex specifically says they can't but would still be a nice way to throw your opponent off when you go to deploy first. Anyway after playing around with the numbers and the akward way its set up I came up with a 1500pt list but have quite a few questions and would really appreciate some feedback.

    HQ xxxpts

    Sammael xxxpts

Here is the first question. Which do you think is better sammael by himself or in the landspeeder?

    Troops 1070pts

3xbikers 1xplasma gun attack bike hb sarge pf 210pts

3xbikers 1xplasma gun attack bike mm sarge pf 210pts

3xbikers 1xmeltagun attack bike mm sarge pf 205pts

    3xbikers 1xplasma gun sarge pw 150pts

    3xbikers 1xmeltagun sarge pw 145pts

    3xbikers 1xplasma gun sarge pw 150pts

So there are a lot of things about the troops I'm not sure of. Don't know if I should go for the three man squads or if I should make em six man squads. Also if I make em six I can add a Landspeeder but it will have to come with an assault cannon and cost a lot of points but will then be scoring so I 'm on the fence about that one. Any suggestions that can be thrown this way will be greatly appreciated.

    Fast Attack 225pts

Land Speeder heavy flamer mm 75pts

Land Speeder heavy flamer mm 75pts

Land Speeder heavy flamer mm 75pts

Once again not sure how to handle these should I make my ravenwing squads full like its suggested on the box or not. Thought about going with typhoon but in the DA dex typhoon is frag only and twin linked heavy 1 but is cheaper so not really sure there. Also don't know if I should put a hb in here or an mm i put down mm but the points dont change when you switch. Tornado pattern also not an option since its not in the DA dex.

    Total 1500pts

Once again would love any feedback you could give me and thanks in advance.

Please don't bump your threads. Or double post.

Not a bike specialist, but I feel having more bikes per squad would be helpful. Maybe fielding four squads of 4/5 instead of 6 of 3. You retain a high amount of mobility while raising the durability of your squads.

Alright, as far as Sam goes, I ALWAYS take him alone, rather than an armor 14 model that just gets shot at and tied up all game.

As far as the Bike squads go, you save points if you make them 6 in a squad, if you want to do the 3 man bike squads, not a bad idea, but take em as 6, then just combat squad them.

Any other questions, just message me!

I've personally found having him as a landspeeder works best mostly for th insane firepower he can unleash and of course he's great at drawing enemy fire after all its the bikes tht win the game.

I'd definitely stick to multi meltas instead of heavy bolters as it doesnt cost anything and ravenwing need all the anti-tank they can get and obviously with their speed you'll get within half range with ease.

In terms of 3 or 6 man squads, i'd definitely say to have them in squads of six, obviously this means less scoring units but at the same time it means their less vulnerable which with the high points cost tht DA have, you need to preserve units as best as you can. I think that's all there is to say really, hope it turns out well,

Oh yeah in regards to landspeeders i generally kit em out with ASs cannon and M-Melta mostly to give me some ranged support so they can't get bogged down by rapid fire or meltas and of course being unlucky enough to have them killed in close combat i prefer to have the ranged to balance out the bikes being up close.

Because you can't... with dark angels it has to be 3 OR 6, and with most other squads its 5 OR 10 the exceptions are Terminators who are only 5 men and veterans who are 5 to 10.
