Welcome to Librarium Online!
Relatively new to the Space Marines, after playing Dark Eldar for a while, although I have learned the tricks of the trade off my friends about the Men in Blue. Anyway, the Space Wolves seem like a really awe-inspiring army to use, and thought that I may whip a up a list to get a feel for what works and what does not. As usual all feedback welcome!
Mark of the Wulfen
Saga of the Beastslayer
Grey Hunters ( x10 )
Long Fangs ( x6 )
Missile Launcher ( x3 )
Lascannon ( x2 )
From what I have heard, it seems that SW users are against models in TA. I would appreciate clarification on this matter, although I can understand the absence of Blood Claws.
As for a skeletal tactic, I'm thinking flanking either side with a squad of Grey Hunters on either side of the board, allowing plausible screening with the WL and LW respectively, hence quick and easy combat. This would allow me to push forward, while maintaining my deployment zone with the Long Fangs.
Ideas and opinions are all appreciated.
Light a fire for a man, and he will be warm for a night. Light a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
I would say that you lack a lot in mobility. Go against something that can shoot and you will be screwed. If you just want to sit and wait (and fire away) then I guess you could do "OK". I'd suggest rhino(s) and maybe a landspeeder or two to upgrade your mobility. I'm sure someone more experienced will give you more extensive advice but that's what comes to my mind.
Also if you take Mark of the Wulfen you can't use your special meleeweapon (Frost Axe in this case), because it specifically states that a model with Wulfen uses his nails and teeth to attack. So drop either the weapon or the Mark.
Wolf Lords already have a high number of attacks and don't need Mark.
I'd suggest a Wolf Lord with runic armor, belt, plasma pistol and frost weapon. He'll have a better invulnerable save, can sweep advance and has a bonus attack when charging. The plasma is a matter of preference and I like it, but feel free to use a normal bolt pistol. Then add the saga you like.
Mark of the Wulfen can't be used in combination with other weapons eh, so its useless on a Wolf Lord who's using a frost axe. Also, gonna want some transports for them grey hunters, who SHOULD have a mark of the wulfen in the squad. That way you have two models in the unit who are good in CC(the other being the power weapon wielder). Probs should just go with pure ML's in the Long Fangs but thats reall just opinion. Also, WG termies are great, just don't go too nuts on upgrading them or they'll get expensive when they should be cheap.
