    1000pt Imperial Guard List (Tournament this Saturday)

    Alright everyone i have a tournament this Saturday at my local gaming store. the rules are:

    MAX
    -1 HQ
    -4 Troop
    -2 Elite, Fast Attack, Heavy Support

    Now i am basing this list off what models i currently have at the moment so keep that in mind, and please any help and advice is needed and appreciated. The armies currently registered are:

    -Nid Guant Horde Army
    -Ork Nob Bikers Army
    -Space Marine Bike Army
    -Nid genestealer outflanking army
    -Demons
    -Nurgle Chaos

    And there are several more slots to fill as it is a 16 army tournament. This is the list i have pointed up to fight with and again from what models i have, any help is welcome.

    HQ:
    -Company Command Squad
    *Company Commander
    *Carapace Armor
    *Officer of the Fleet
    *x4 Veterans w/ x1 Lascannon, x2 Plasma

    Total HQ: 140

    TROOPS:
    -Veteran Squad A (In Vendetta)
    *Sergent w/ Plasma Pistol
    *x9 Veterans w/ x3 Melta
    *Demolitions

    -Veteran Squad B (In Vendetta)
    *Sergent w/ Plasma Pistol
    *x9 Veterans w/ x3 Melta
    *Demolitions

    Total Troop: 280pts.

    FAST ATTACK:
    -Vendetta
    w/ x3 TL-Lascannons, Door Gunners

    -Vendetta
    w/ x3 TL-Lascannons, Door Gunners

    Total Fast Attack: 280pts

    HEAVY SUPPORT:
    -Leman Russ Battle Tank
    w/ Hull Heavy Flamer

    -Leman Russ Battle Tank
    w/ Hull Heavy Flamer

    Total Heavy Support: 300pts.

    Are those all the infantry models that you can field? The veterans are great for playing aggressively but I feel like they will be killed the turn after they drop. Seeing as how they are 80% of your squishy's they will be having to face nearly all of your enemies anti-infantry firepower.

    Demolitions and meltas are both good but i think its too much of a points dump if you take both. While the demo charge would be nice your just never going to use the melta bombs. If your still gonna take demolitions you should give your squad 3 flamers, or grenade launchers instead. Keep it cheap.

    I would drop the officer of the fleet and the las-cannon from your HQ. The officer is way too inaccurate and the las-cannon will probably only get to shoot off 2 rounds. The nob bikers are going to be charging for your tanks, with their power klaws the first chance they get, so something with more dakka would be better.

    If you shave off the fleet officer, plasma pistols, demolitions from both squads (or meltas) and the las-cannon you can get back between 110-130 pts.

    Bring Marbo
    or maybe another squad of vets to leg it with your HQ.

    Good points and i also realized i have plenty of lascannons with my vendettas, and in reference to the officer of the fleet the reason i did that is because with the high concentration of Nid and Demon armies (3 Nid, 2 demon) at my store im going to need something where i can delay them as much as possible but at the same time if i dont get paired with them it will be a waste so i dropped that. But after looking over my list i have tweaked some things and this is what i have come up with. Again the models have to be painted so yes at the moment this is the amount of infantry i have:

    HQ:
    -Company Command Squad
    *Company Commander
    *x4 Veterans w/ x3 Plasma

    Total HQ: 95

    ELITES:
    -Marbo

    Total Elite: 65

    TROOPS:
    -Veteran Squad A (In Vendetta)
    *Sergent
    *x9 Veterans w/ x3 Melta
    *Demolitions

    -Veteran Squad B (In Vendetta)
    *Sergent
    *x9 Veterans w/ x3 Melta
    *Demolitions

    Total Troop: 260pts.

    FAST ATTACK:
    -Vendetta
    w/ x3 TL-Lascannons, Door Gunners

    -Vendetta
    w/ x3 TL-Lascannons, Door Gunners

    Total Fast Attack: 280pts

    HEAVY SUPPORT:
    -Leman Russ Battle Tank
    w/ Hull Heavy Flamer

    -Leman Russ Battle Tank
    w/ Hull Heavy Flamer

    Total Heavy Support:
    300pts.

    I would drop one of the Demolishions Doctrine for an Astropath. An Astropath is more important to me than the OotF, even with the enemies you might fight. When taking Vendetta's it is a Manditory bit of kit.

    I personally wouldn't take Marbo, he is good but can be an easy kill point. I would take a Chimera for you CCS instead. Being the only infantry on the table will mean they are dead meat fast.

    You are a bit troop light for a Tourney as well. I might be temped to drop a Russ for another Veteran squad in a Chimera?

    You need at least 3 scoring units at 1000 points. More if, like these, they're suicide drop troops.

    Try something more like this:

    HQ
    90 CCS w/4 x Melta, Carapace

    TROOPS
    100 Veteran Squad w/3 x Melta
    115 Veteran Squad w/3 x Flamer, Demolitions
    115 Veteran Squad w/3 x Flamer, Demolitions

    Fast Attack
    280 2 x Valkyrie with MRPs, Heavy Bolters (CCS and Melta Vets)
    140 Vendetta Gunship w/Heavy Bolters (Demo Vets)

    hold on guys, i think we need to pay attention to his tournament rules which are no special characters (marbo?) only 2 fast attack, elite or havy support choices (im assuming only two of all of them correct me if im wrong)

    I can get special characters i was just stating the max choices i could get for each of the major components for my army.

    Sandwyrm has a good list there (like usual) and you can easily switch that to your tournament rules. I'd Ditch the two Valks and use the points to mount everything in Chimeras. The Multilasers and the H-flamers they'll bring to the table will be very handy against Deep Stiking Daemons and Nid Hoards.

    Something like this maybe??

    HQ
    CCS w/4 x Melta, Chimera -145pts

    TROOPS
    Veteran Squad w/3 x Melta, Chimera -155pts
    Veteran Squad w/3 x Flamer, Demolitions, Chimera -170pts
    Veteran Squad w/3 x Flamer, Demolitions, Chimera -170pts

    Fast Attack
    Vendetta Gunship w/Heavy Bolters -140pts
    Vendetta Gunship w/Heavy Bolters -140pts

    That leaves you 80pts left over for a Griffon, a Hydra or Marbo and some bits. What ever you go for good luck.
