    1000pts mech/armour

Hey guys, been wanting to try my hand at a armoured/mech company for a while now but i'm a little clueless. Any ways here's the list, tell me what ya think ;P

Company command ~missile launcher, vox caster. 70pts

Veteran Squad A ~ 3 meltaguns, autocannon, vox caster. 115pts

Veteran Squad B ~ 3 meltaguns, autocannon, vox caster. 115pts

Veteran Squad C ~ 3 flamers, autocannon, vox caster. 100pts

    8 Ratlings 80pts

    Devil dog ~multi melta. 135pts

Demolisher ~ Hull heavy flamer. 165pts

Chimera x4 ~heavy bolter turret, hull heavy flamer. 220pts

    total: 1000pts

other thoughts: The ratlings are kinda there just for fun, a fluffy thing i suppose, but i could always swap them out for 2 scout sentinals with autocannons. I was also a little iffy on what i should give to my veterans. Everyone's in chimera's and i chose hvy bolters for them simply because i'm not fond of multi-lasers (again with the fluff). As for moving up into to the 1500 range i got a some stormtroopers and russes i plan on putting to use. Anyway, thanks for any criticism!

    Drop the vox casters.

Change the missile launcher to either a lascannon or 4x meltas or any other special weapon.

The multilaser will generate more wounds in most situations since the target will get either its armor save or a cover save vs almost any shooting due to 5th edition...also it can score penetrating hits on a 5+ vs standard rear armor ( AV10 )

Okay, you almost confused the hell out of me there . Could you please list the chimeras as part of their respective squads, please? I almost wrote an entire paragraph as to why you needed transports in the list. Get rid of the voxes, you can't give orders to stuff in tanks and spending 20 points for orders you won't often use isn't really worth it.

Snipers suck. Lose the ratlings unless you want them purely for fluff.

Devil Dog is an interesting choice, I haven't used one myself. At 1000 points I think 2 meltavets are enough so maybe swap it out for a hellhound or scout sentinel squadron? Really this choice is up to you, nothing really bad here.

    Demolishers are amazing.

Your chimeras should have: Multilaser Turret / Hull Heavy Flamer. It is hands-down the most efficient loadout a chimera can take.

Ratlings great snipers, nut even great snipers just are not very good in 5th edition so i'd swap these out for sentinels!

Vox's not needed as your mech so wont be able to use them for orders since you'll be mounted in the chimeras

devil dog is not really needed in this list as you already have close range anti tank in the melta vets. but using a bane wolf if facing meq frequently could be a good idea, and hell hound if facing hordes.

chimeras, as other people have said are better with multi laser and heavy flammer.

if you drop the vox caster and ratlings. you can find the points needed to change the devil dog, to either the hell hound or bane wolf, and give it smoke launchers, as well adding two scout sentinels with autocannons, leaving you with 5 points left over.

Thanks for all the help, here's the revised:

Company command: missile launcher, grenade launcher 70pts
chimera : multi laser, heavy flamer 55pts

veteran squad: 3 meltaguns, autocannon 110pts
chimera: multi laser, heavy flamer 55pts

veteran squad: 3 meltaguns, autocannon 110pts
chimera: multi laser, heavy flamer 55pts

veteran squad: 3 flamers, autocannon 95pts
chimera: multi laser, heavy flamer 55pts

hellhound: multi melta, smoke launchers 150pts

    2 scout sentinals: autocannons 80pts

    demolisher: heavy flamer 165pts

    total 1000pts

um i'm still gonna play test the chimera's with heavy bolters to see if i prefer them, even if multi laser are the most efficient. Also i'm keeping the missile launcher, just a personal choice on my part, especially considering the models i have and the lack of funds i possess.

The missile launcher throws me off here. Its not that great of a weapon. And if I remember correctly you have to have your chimera immobile to use it inside the transport. I would drop it and get some special weapons.

veteran squad: 3 meltaguns, autocannon 110pts
chimera: multi laser, heavy flamer 55pts

These are fine. Its not like no one hasn't seen this before.

hellhound: multi melta, smoke launchers 150pts

good choice. The Hellhound can really give an army a thrashing.

    2 scout sentinals: autocannons 80pts

not a big fan of just have two sentinels but hey if they work keep them.

    demolisher: heavy flamer 165pts

    good choice of tank.

    HQ:
If these boys are going to be riding around treat them like another Veteran Squad - Load up on special weapons. 4 G-Launchers is pretty useful against anything you're likely to come against offering you 4 Blast or 4 str 6 shots

    TROOPS:
All good. 2 Melta vets at 1000pts is plenty. The Flamer Vets aren't really needed. You've got H-Flamers on all your Chimeras, a Hell hound and a Demolisher for infantry killing. Swap the Flamers for something else. Plasma guns are handy for Monstrous Creature killing but it's expensive, or go for G-Launchers. They're cheap useful and have decent range so you can leave them back hugging an objective.

    FAST:
Hell Hounds are brilliant. Personally I prefer Bane Wolves but thats just personal Preference.

    HEAVY:
Demolishers. We all love them. All tanks want to be Demolishers when they grow up.

Lord Borak?! I'm not worthy lol

Company command: 4 grenade launchers 70pts
chimera : multi laser, heavy flamer 55pts

veteran squad: 3 meltaguns, autocannon 110pts
chimera: multi laser, heavy flamer 55pts

hellhound: multi melta, smoke launchers 150pts

    2 scout sentinals: autocannons 80pts

    demolisher: heavy flamer 165pts

    total 1000pts

I really like this list, nice and simple. way better than anything i'd would have come up by myself, the ninny i am. For moving up to 1500 points, does adding another vet/chimera combo with plasma guns be ideal (as a starter)?

Haha, you're worthy.........if you dedicate yourself to my All Stars.............sign here please.

The list looks good!! and a plasma squad sounds like a good place to start. Then I'd start doubling up on things to give your self a bit of redundancy. Another Hell hound or Demolisher wouldn't hurt, maybe even a Hydra or two if you're feeling reckless.

For 1500, as Lord Borak said, another Demolisher would be good. I would suggest maybe a melta vet squad and a valkyrie/vendetta? I don't think they would fit, being a mech army, in that case maybe another mounted vet squad and either more sentinels or another hellhound would do well.

Pierce Hawkeye: Of course the Lord was holding three aces at the time.
