1000 Point Newbie BA vs Tyranids List

I'm just getting into Warhammer, and decided to play BA. I love that they are fast to the point of insanity, and wanted to build my army around that as much as possible... My friend plays tyranids, so I tried to include lots of flamers as a counter to his hordes of termagaunts / hormagaunts / whatever else...

    HQ
    - Mephiston = 250 Points

    Troops
    - 10 Man Assault Squad = 230 Points
    2x Flamers
    Infernus Pistol
    Dedicated Rhino

    - 10 Man Assault Squad = 230 Points
    2x Flamers
    Infernus Pistol
    Dedicated Rhino

    Fast Attack
    - Baal Predator = 145 Points
    Flamestorm Cannon
    Heavy Bolters

    - Baal Predator = 145 Points
    Flamestorm Cannon
    Heavy Bolters

    Total = 1000 Points

So is my approach completely wrong (to either the speed or the tyranid fighting), and is there anything else i should change about this list?

Not sure about Mephiston at this points level. I'd also take assault cannons on the Baals so you don't have to risk getting up close. While it's still a flamer, the AP3 of the flamestorm cannon is wasted on nids; it's a MEQ killer.

Any suggestions for what i should take instead of Mephiston?
Reclusiarch, 5 DC and a razorback, maybe... Except that is 285 without any fancy equipment.

I don't know. What do you have to take out the big monsters?

Thats kind of a weak point in my army. I played one smaller point game with a baal predator with an assault cannon, and between that and the infernus pistols, i could handle the large stuff pretty well. I replaced that with the flamestorm cannons because i could have taken out ~1/2 of a hormagaunt squad if i had had one in that game...

Thinking now that i should switch it back cause i do have a huge lack of anit monsterous creature firepower...
