I am playing some battles against a couple of buddies in a few weeks so i wanted
to ask my fellow LO'ers what they think of my army!
Here it is!
Chaplain w/ jump pack.
Tactical squad w/ Plasma cannon, plasma gun, combi-plasma and a powerfist.
Tactical squad w/ Missile launcher, flamer, powerfist.
These two squads will be in rhinos.
Tactical squad w/ Multi-melta, meltagun, powerfist teleport homer.
These will ride in the land raider.
Terminator squad w/heavy flamer.
Assault squad w/2xflamers, powerfist.
Land raider redeemer w/ Multi melta.
That will be somewhere around 1500 pts... haven't got my dex.
I will be fighting a chaos player (no tricks just a standard army with one or two berzerker squads and a defiler) and an ork player (Speedfreaks all the way, boys in trukks!).
I plan to use my army in three "teams" The chaplain and the assault squad target troop squads(boys and standard marines), the two rhino tacs team up and rapidfire the living daylights out of close combat squad and the landraider tac and terminators will be smashed right in the middle of things and cause havoc(mainly i want to get my melta squad in half range of the defiler as i am pretty sure that it will be the toughest armour i'll meet).
What do you think... i've played these guys before with my old ultramarines army and i have lost horribly... alot... i want to win something now! Help!
A couple of suggestions:
Grab a codex and double check your point costs, that way you know how much leeway/cutting you gotta do with your list.
If you're looking to cause trouble with the terminators, replace them with a squad of hammer/shield termies. I can pretty well guarentee that they'll either hurt things, or draw a ton of fire. (though personally, I don't even take termies. Between them and the land raider, they've eaten up a third of your army cost off the top.)
Replace the Redeemer with one of the other variants - I know that it looks awesome on paper, but it's really not that practical a choice in practise to do the width of the tank and the fact that the flamestorm cannons are on sponsons.
Replace the tactical squad weapons with a standard set of meltaguns and plasma cannons. They're probably the most effective for what you're after here.
Look into some more anti-transport options. AC/LC preds and typhoon speeders are both good options.
What do you own in the way of models? That'd help some in sorting out your list.
I have all the models for the list above... I also have:
1 tactical with missile launcher/flamer/PF, a lascannon and missile launcher or DCCW/AC dread, a melta dread, an AC/HB pred(can be rebuilt to a AC/LC variant) and a whirlwind.
