Got some good advice here over a few posts, trying to finish this up so I can buy what I need and evolve it from my current mixed mech list.
CCS w/ 4 Meltas and Astropath
Chimera w/ ML-HF
Veterans w/ 3 Meltas, rest Shotguns
PCS w/ 4 Meltas
Chimera w/ ML-HF
Squad w/ Lascannon
3 Squads w/ Autocannons and GLs
3 Chimeras w/ ML-HF
2 SWS w/ Demo Charge and 2 Flamers
2 Demolishers w/ HF
I'm putting out five Chimeras and one hold back unit. The not-meched unit is to hold a home objective and provide some powerful fire support, hopefully popping a medium armor vehicle that Autocannons can struggle with.
The meched units play depending on my opponent, either aggressive or defensive. They're effective pillboxes and short ranged threats equally. I went heavy on meltas because armor is everywhere and they're still effective against MCs.
The Vendettas and Marbo are still my hammer, dropping off a solid BS4 tank threat and a big horde threat in the SWS. I'm obviously looking to deal with 3 tanks or 1-2 MCs with their Lascannons as well.
The Demolishers draw fire very well and protect my Chimeras weak side with AV14, as well as helping with "super units" like Nob Bikers and TW Cav. Largely expendable but my opponent doesn't know that.
I think I have a very good balance. I can easily get a mech army on foot, giving me the advantage. Against aggressive Drop Pods or those Reserve 'Nids lists, I can go all Reserve and use superior mobility. I'm a bit worried about Stormraven/DoA lists as I have yet to play one, or read about one that was well played/built. I don't see hordes as a problem, I have a ton of Flamers/templates and the ability to refused flank and play keep away.
So what do you guys see? Just want to polish this baby off and get back to stomping opposing generals. I don't know what to do with the 5 points, maybe a Sniper Rifle? Probably nothing of consequence.
Huh..?Squad w/ Lascannon
This seems to be a pointless squad right here...
Everything else seems to be good
Their job is to sit on an objective with a nice cover save and benefit from my HQs Order. I have Autocannons everywhere else so a S9 shot is very handy while I wait for my Vendettas to show. Helps with AV12, a very common rating.
