Well it's been a long play testing period but I finally think I have a BA list I really like and only a month and a half to really master it before our big tournament.
This guy always pulls his weight, in the last 20 games I can think of only once where he did nto kill his VPs and multiple his KPs. Frankly as I get better with this list I will probably cut him for friendly games.
Librarian Dreadnaught (wings of sang and might of heroes.)
This is the weakest link in the list IMO. In the 6 games I have run with him he as pulled his weight 3 times and done nothing of note the other 3. Worst was jumping into terrain and getting immobilized on turn 1. On the other hand he provides a nice cover save to Mephiston and draws allot of fire. Having a big monster move forward with my jump troops is important. Also I love the concept of a Jumping Mech with a big sword. If I were building an uber competitive list this guy would be the first to go, but for fun factor he is hard to beat and in at least one occasion having a second hood bubble saved me from losing a game.
2 units of 10 man Assault marines, 2 meltas, Power Weapons.
2 Sanguinary Priests, Jump Packs, Power Weapons.
After allot of play testing I have come to the conclusion that each unit of assault marines needs their own priest. Far too often I want to combat squad my troops and only 1 6" bubble is not good enough. As for power weapons on the priests, I know the argument that priests should be kept out of CC but in my experience it is nearly impossible to do in practice, also without the extra hitting power plain Jane assault units often can't get the job done. (just try assaulting a unit of Grey Hunters with a lone wolf attached to see what I mean). Power fists would be better on the Sarges but I simply ran out of points.
1 unit of 5 scouts, cammo cloaks, sniper rifles, missile launcher.
These guys are great for their price, they consistently win me games by holding objectives. Anything the Missile Launcher or sniper rifles actually manage to kill is gravy. I am considering removing the missile launcher as these guys spend most games going to ground every turn.
2 Baal preds, Assault Cannon, Heavy Bolters.
I tried the inferno cannon option but found that just made the Baal into a suicide unit. For me the HB's have been very helpful in clearing out troops and providing an alternative when the Ass cannon gets blown off.
3 Preds, Auto cannon turret, Laz cannon sponsons.
These guys are the bomb, having a high range means I can use them to both protect my near objectives and support my offensive push as needed. Also having the consistency of multiple redundant fire makes fire allocation and movement decisions much easier, I totally recommend them over the Vindicator.
And there you have it. 1850pts of well balanced BA. The list is a bit short on scoring units but every one of those units either has 3+ and FNP or a 3+/2+ cover save making them quite resilient.
I really like the list. 5 Predators will certainly give people food for thought.
The Librarian Dread though, I agree I can't see him making his 175pts back and I think you'd be better off swapping him for another Baal (you can use spare points to give the sergeants Power Fists)
Other than that I think Lightning Claws (single ones) perform better than a Powerweapon (and Ccw). You loose the attack but the re-roll to wound is better against pretty much every opponent going. So swapping them on your Priests and sergeants might be something to ponder upon.
Hey thanks for the feed back.
Yea, in very competitive games the Libby dread is out and another Baal is in even though this makes the list very boring and spam like. Having the Libby breaks up the monotony a bit and gives the list a touch of flavor.
As for claws, I see your point, they are better in allot of circumstances but never by very much. I think, given that I have already modeled power weapons I will keep them, but would not mind at all trying claws in my next build.
I like everything but the Preds, Dread and lack of PFs on Sarges. I have no opinion on Claws over PWeapon, if you have spare points, it's a reasonable upgrade.
Mephiston gives you Psychic protection so the Dread is really dead weight. You also have a lack of aggressive armor so he's going to be eating Meltas and the like all day long. I don't know what I'd drop him for, maybe scoring unit. 3 is just to few in 1850, even for Marines, especially when 2 are VERY aggressive and the other is small.
Preds can perform because of being Fast but they're a bit pricey for such an exploitable back and rear. It's not a huge weakness, more situational against certain armies but it might bite you hard once in awhile.

So you like the list except for the way I spent 75% of my points...? LOL

No argument the Libby dread is sub optimal but I will say in it's defence, it provides movible cover for Mephiston and all AP2 shots directed at my Dread are shots not going into Meph. Also the libby is aggressive so runs well with my jump troops and meph to cover off the assault portion of the list. Not sure what decent scoring unit i can get for 175pts if I were to dump him.
