Hey guys I am looking for some input. My local club is going to do a kill team tournament and I would like some input on my list. This week we all got together for some practice games with troops only and it went well. It looks like we will have several Genestealer lists, a Chaos, some Orks, an IG, Eldar and a Death Company list. So I will need a list that is able to deal with all comers.
Here is what I have come up with.
Vet. Squad w/ 3 Melta's and a Chimera
Scout Sentinal w/ Autocannon
Total = 195pts
I only saw 1 list that used any armor but things can change. It was a Razorback with TL AssaultCannon.
Looking forward to the input.
- 200 pts max.
- Special FOC: 0-1 Elite, 0-2 Troops, 0-1 Fast Attack.
- All models move, shoot and assault independently. Models with multi-shot weapons may split their fire.
- You may select three models in your army to designate as specialists, to give any USR from the book. None may be given the same rule.
-No special charicters (is a Mal'antai considered a special charicter? one of the Nid players was talking about takeing one with Eternal Warrior.).
-Must buy atleast a min squad size of a uint (so no buying 1 terminator for SMs, or 1 warrior for Nids).
So I can take something like a Chimera or Armored Sentinal but a Hellhound or Vendetta would prob be too point heavy to take anything elese. I think the trick may be puting as much as I can in armor with filling out as many points as possible. I like the Meltas because one of the guys is takeing Death Company and will not get his armour save or FNP from them, but I guess Plasma would work as well but i would only be able to trade 1 melta for 1 plasma due to the extra 5 points I have at the moment.

You could take....
Valkyrie/w Missile Pods and a Veteran squad
Valkyrie With Veteran squad and 3 Melta Guns
2 Veteran Squads. 6 Grenade Launchers, one squad with Heavy Bolter (yes, heavy bolter), and one squad with a Missile Launcher
The next two are my favourites:
7 Rough Riders and 5 Storm Troopers with 2xPlasma Guns. Giving the Rough Rider commander a power weapon (and furious charge).
Platoon, 3x Infantry Squads, 2x Autocannons. Numbers win this sort of game. Nothing quite like 35 Infantry on the table.
Give one Autocannon relentless, and the other Slow and Purposeful (basically letting them both move and shoot), give someone else, oh, who knows, Stealth.
The problem with transports is that each individual counts as it's own unit. therefore, they can't all be transported at the same time.
Storm Troopers are kind of fun for a kill team, and sentinels

the Back 40k
Don't need to put anyone inside the transports. They would be there to kill.
The way we play tested it is that they act is ICs and they can all move in and out of the transports freely. IE: if you have 5 guys inside you can unload any number of them in a turn and they act independantly from that point, and while in the transport they can each use the fire ports (up to the max allowed per port) to shoot at their targets.
So I can drive up in my chimera and have the vets pop out the hatch and let off the melta shots at different targets. Kinda like useing the transport as a mobile pillbox.

Did kill team tournaments when ig dex first came out. Tanks got restricted to AV33 (front, side, rear) then restricted to 1.
(we did 400 points, and quite frankly hydras and bare bones vet squads in chimeras ripped up the board.)
Do tanks. Chimera's and hydras are gross.

Hydras are Heavy Support, so the FoC will not allow them for the tournament. I am looking for a couple for them for my regular list comp after reading so many good things about them, and we may start a 40k in a flash campaine that they would be perfect in.

Had a test game, they changed the rules (no vehicles but dedicated transports) so I had to come up with something quick. It looked something like this.
5+ Sargent w/2 Melta guns
Ended up with a horrid death to Necron Scarabs. 10 with the disrupter fields. He glanced my chimera to death on turn 2 and went h2h in turn 3. Guard vs Scarabs in h2h was just sad and long. The game ended with 0 guard left and 6 swarms still up, but several with only 1 wound left. Was a good fun fight.
Any suggestions for fighting something like 10 Scarab Swarms?
