Hi folks, I'm looking for some assistance with building a 10,000 point Codex Space Marine Army List for a campaign. No single battle will be more than 2000 points, but when units die, they don't come back. I can field about 2500 points of Space Marines currently, but I'm curious as to what other would take on the roster.
Currently I have:
SM Captain (power sword, storm bolter)
Predator (lascannons all around)
6 Assault Marines
4 tactical squads
Techmarine (and a makeshift Thunderfire cannon if needed)
So I'd like to keep my list to be in line with the models I've got, but I"m open to suggestions. It means that on my roster I could theoretically have 10 Predator tanks, just I could only field 1 per battle, if that makes sense.
My initial thoughts would to be build a list based off of the force organization chart (roughly 10% HQ, 10% Elites, etc).
I also have access to a small force of Imperial Guard (a local planetary defense force, fluff), a vindicare assassin (I LOVE this model, heh) and other Space Marines from others in the campaign (when they're not playing, we have 4 of us in the campaign).
So with that said, I'd appreciate any thoughts, guidance or tips on how to build this massive roster!
Thanks in advance, good hunting.
i dont really know how to adivise you on picking a 10,000 pt list, tho, if ur playing 2000 pt games and uve got 2500 pts total, wouldnt it be a case of 4 x ur 2500 pts? as u dont have much flexibility anyway.
if it was me, id take a space marine chapter!, and make up the rest of the points with imperial gaurd! but im a fluff-aholic i am.
Not every unit will be in every battle, and not all the battles will be at 2000 points. Some simple patrol missions may only be 250 points, but any soldiers that are destroyed, do not come back the next battle.
So my overall list would look like:
Tactical Squad A - ML, flamer - 10
Tactical Squad B - ML, Plasma - 10
Tactical Squad C - HB, flamer - 10
If I use Tactical Squad A in a patrol mission and 3 guys die, then subsequent mission rosters would look like
Tactical Squad A - ML, flamer - 7
Using any of the models I currently have (or any suggested), I can swap them around to create different set ups, I just need to have these on the roster.
I have 2 landspeeders. But I could have 10 on my roster, kitted out however I would like (the guns are not glued on), I could only field 2 at a time though.
I know it's a strange set up, our group is just trying something different.
Hopefully this helps, let me know if I'm not explaining myself well enough.
I think the roster campagin sounds like a great idea. I would also suggest taking a space marine company with afew support units form other companies (in the codex there sound be a page outlining the organisation of the chapter into companies). This sould give you a practical and fluffy force at the same time if thats what your looking for.
