    2000pts pre-apocalypse

    My guard army will eventually accompany my space marines into apocalypse, but until then I want to buy a solid foundation for it. This is not a tournament list, but my friends (eldar, orks and necrons mianly) are very competitive and competent players so it needs to be able to hold its own. Anyway here it is:

    Hq 240
    Company Command Squad w/ 4 grenade launchers, officer of the feel
    -Chimera w/ multilaser, heavy flamer
    Inquisitor Lord (daemonhunters) w/ 3 mystics, psychic hood, bolter (purely anti-pysker)

    Troops 900
    Veteran Squad w/ 3 meltaguns
    -Chimera w/ multilaser, heavy flamer
    Veteran Squad w/ 3 meltaguns
    -Chimera w/ multilaser, heavy flamer
    Veteran Squad w/ 3 meltaguns
    -Chimera w/ multilaser, heavy flamer
    Infantry Platoon
    Platoon Command Squad w/ 4 grenade launchers
    Infantry squad (10 men) w/ autocannon
    Infantry squad (10 men) w/ autocannon
    Infantry squad (10 men) w/ autocannon
    Heavy Weapons Team w/ 3 autocannons
    Heavy Weapons Team w/ 3 autocannons

    Fast Attack 390

    Vendetta (using as 3 lascannons and/or backup transport just in case I need a spare)

    None of the vehicles are squadroned. My tactic is basically to advance with all but the platoon and the inquisitor but I can also form a gunline and use the hellhound/banewolf for emergencies.

    Thoughts?

    I would drop the HWTs, they have low leader ship and can all die to a lucky multi laser shot.

    The vendetta will die quickly being the only one on the field, I would go with either 2 of them or non of them (dropping the banewolf if you choose to take 2.)

    The vendettas also need squads in them, preferably with as much flamy and demochargy death as possible, this could be in the form of a cheap SWS with 3xflamers/3xdemo charges or any mix between them or a veteran squad with 3x flamer and demolishions.

    I would also give you autocannon squads grenade launchers as well.

    I agree on dropping the heavy weapon teams for something else, or swapping them for mortars so they can sit safely out of sight and fire away merrily. But in my experience, with two Russes on the table, my own single Vendetta takes surprisingly little fire in my own games, but two is always better than one; especially for the Imperial Guard. Good list nonetheless.

    Thanks for the advice.

    Changes to the list are as follow:
    Lose the heavy weapon teams.
    Change the banewolf into a vendetta
    Buy two special weapon teams, one equipped with 2 meltaguns and 1 demo-charge, the other with 3 meltaguns.

    That brings me to 2000pts exactly.
