Just wondering if you could take a look at the below list and give me any pointers or suchlike.
The list is to be used in a social round robin this weekend against Eldar, Tau and Ultramarines. We dont use Speical characters and try to avoid power lists.
2 x Platoon Command
2 x Flamers
6 x Infantry Squads
2 x Veteran Squads
3 x Meltas
1 x Veteran Squad
3 x Snipers
3 x Scout Sentinels
Leman Russ Esecutioner
Leman Russ Battle Tank
2 x Griffons
Idea is to use the Infantry Squads as a gun line commanded by and reinforced by the Company Command with reginmental, with the Platoon Commands on the flanks. Veteran Squads to to hunt vehicle and snipers to pick off MC or others infantry.
Devil Dog and Executioner to look after MEQ and Battle Cannon to back them up and general template. Griffons to lay down fire against Light-Medium infantry.
The autocannons should be able to take care of medium armour, with the Lascannons and Devil Dog for heavy armour.
I was torn between Autocannons or Heavy Flamers on the sentinels, but considering two out of three opponents will be relatively soft, I opted for Heavy Flamers. At least against the Marine, I can target scouts and maybe rear armour glancing.
HQ: OK but the flamer wont do much good. footslogging flamers are poor on puny guardsmen. Take Camo cloaks to stop the enemy shooting them through your platoons to kill the standard and order generating unit.
Troops: Platoons are ok but again a GL will fire every turn but a flamer may fire once if you are lucky and the enemy forgets to deal with them as he moves a horde next to you. Vets are ok. The foot ones are ok in cover but the mechanised ones can drop the lascannon as the tank should be moving. Chimeras are a great place to put heavy flamers on the hull. May wish to add another chimera for a PCS with 4 flamers. The transport keeps them alive and they are only BS3 so 4 flamers makes them really toasty.
Fast: HF on sentinels arent great as they haveto get in too close. They are better on the chimeras. I would take AC or ML and outflank looking for side armour.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
The list is a little light on anti tank. 2 squads of melta at 1750 is probably not enough to take care of a heavy armor list. The devil dog helps some, but I might pick up a vendetta or another melta type squad.
Also, autocannons are your friend. Good anti-transport and higher chance of hitting work well with IG.
