HQ- Kayvaan Shrike
Elites- Tech Marine with plasma pistol and thunder hammer.
Troops- 2 Squads of 10 Sniper Scouts with cloaks (works in conjunction with the tech marine's bolster defenses ability. If I have the scouts in one ruin and bolster it, they all get 2+ cover saves)
Fast Attack- 3 Squads of Assault Marines, Sergeants have Storm Shields and thunder Hammers, All squads have melta bombs.
Heavy Support- Predator With lascannon sponsons.
Total: 995 Points
Interesting list, how many assualt marines are in a squad?
I assume this is a fluffy list so won't edit it too much.
Hq-Quite expensive in 1000pts, although fleet does help a lot. If you need points take a chaplain w/ a jump pack.
Troops- Thats one big ruin you have to find. Also, one DSing heavy flamer could ruin your day. Perhaps drop a squad to five, give them comabt weapons and get them in a landspeeder storm. Start them in reserves them turbo-boost onto an objective when they arrive. On subsequent turns turboboost onto objectives that are only 24" away so the opponent can't catch you/doesn't know which objective you'll try and capture.
Fast Attack- Depends how many they are. If there ten man squads, then reduce it two squads and get them two flamers each. If there any less get thema flamer each and lose melta bombs. Usually the one melta bomb attack is worse than the three thunderhammer ones.
Heavy Suppport- This costs too much buck for what it does. For the same points you could take a vindicator and an attack bike.
Elites- Tech marines are kinda rubbish. I'd suggest taking some attack bikes instead, or if you have no fast attack left either a vindicator or some sternguard.
Thanks! I thought I put flamers in my assault squads, must have left them out of the description above.Oh, and they are 5 man squads. Also, you're right, it would have to be a big ruin, if worst comes to worst one squad would get 3+ instead. If I fielded a speeder, it could work but I play lists that have some strong scouting units. I would have taken a vindicator, but considering the guys that I play with the predator would actually work out nicely (Everyone here has a list made for killing vindicators lol I can't make this up ) I almost ran a squad of bikes for the locator beacon, but decided against it and I put in melta bombs only because I had 15 points left and they come in handy when I play against my friends' lists (most of the time). P.S. I know tech marines suck, I just have them for the bolstering ability. I built the list to combat the ones my friends use, so even though some of this doesn't seem practical, it fits my situation. I also don't usually play objective with them, so I didn't really use troop carriers. If worst comes to worst and I do play objective, I'll just deep strike my assault squads and jump onto objectives. Thanks for the advice, I think I might try the land speeder and a bike squadron instead of a 3rd squad of assault marines.
In that case I can still help but with some different suggestions.
Hq- Shrike is still rather expensive, take a Master of the Forge instead. You get the bolster defences meaning you no longer need the techmarine. That gains you 150+ pts to spend on wargear and another unit. Give the master iof the forge a bike, and either join the assualt marine squads (more combat ability), or take a conversion beamer (bikes make you relentless so you can move and fire it).
Okay, the predator is the same AV as the vindicator but I assume you are referring to having 3 weapons over one.
Consider taking 3 attack bikes with multimeltas instead. These are slightly cheaper, use melta weapons (better than lascannons against all but the monolith and stormraven gunship), are relentless (move 12 and still fire 24 or 12 with the melta rule), have TL bolters as well, can charge if necessary and can't all be killed by a lucky lascannon shot (although it will kill one). They also add more power armour to draw fire from your assualt marines and scouts.
The problem with the predator is its your only AV, so all the enemy anti-tank weaponry can focus on it. If you run no tanks then you effectively waste their AT weaponry (althouh its still pretty good against marines because of our high point models but still).
If you have a couple of points spare add heavy weapons to your scout squads.
Hope this helps.
p.s. a bike squadron or an attack bike squadron with maximum meltas do similar things, I just prefer attack bikes for the extra range on the melta weapons.
p.s.s. normal landspeeders are better than LS storms, just storms can transport scouts (and at the moment you have no way of getting troops to objective in the middle of the field halway through the game.
