    500pt Imperial Guard Army

    Hi All,

Just started Imperial Guard after deciding that my Raven Guard could do with some Imperial Support. So am starting small and will expand from there. This is my base army that I will then add stuff to:

    HQ
    Company Command - 80
    1 x Lascannon Team, 2 x Grenade Launcher

    Troop

    Veteran Squad - 190
10man, 3 x Plasma Weapons, Lascannon Team and Chimera

    Veteran Squad - 190
10man, 3 x Plasma Weapons, Lascannon Team and Chimera

This totals 460 points and so have 40points to spare. At the moment I have a battalion box, extra cadian troop, extra heavy weapons squad box and a lemon russ demolisher/punisher version.

My local centre was out of chimeras, so will ge them when they come in.

My alternative was to go with this list using the same basics:

    HQ
    Company Command - 80
    1 x Lascannon, 2 x Grenade Launcher

    Troop

    Infantry Platoon - 270pts
    Platoon Command = 4 x Flamer/Grenade Launchers (alt 1 plasma and 1 grenade or 2melta)
    Infantry Squad Alpha = 1 x Melta
    Infatry Squad Beta = 1 x Flamer/Grenade
Heavy Weapons Team = 3 Lascannons

    Veteran Squad - 150
    1 x Flamer, 2 x Meltas with Chimera Transport.

The second list totals exactly 500pts.

Idea with first list is a highly mobile (if required) guard army with lots of anti-tank/elite infantry.

Second list is more of a core base line to hold the fort with veterans going out to attack any oncoming threats/capture other objectives.

Comments and Thoughts would be very much welcome.

    Thanks

I wouldn't call either list "highly mobile". The first has lots of firepower, but will crumple as soon as the enemy gets to you, as it lacks sufficient numbers. The second lacks focus.

Here's a highly mobile Guard list which has the durability to make up for it's lack of numbers:

    HQ
70 Primaris Psyker (Rides with Vets)

    Troops
155 Veteran Squad w/3 x Melta, Chimera (Hull Flamer)
155 Veteran Squad w/3 x Melta, Chimera (Hull Flamer)

    Fast Attack
    120 3 Scout Sentinels w/Autocannons
