looking of using another codex for my Lamenters, and since noone here plays Dark Angels and fluffwise they fit better then the Blood Angels, I'd decided to give the DA a try,
now utterly unfluffy part of it, the deathwing, I love the idea of playing that, so I guess I'll take the first company of the Lamenters representing their final stand versus Kraken (where the first company sacrificed itself so that the civilians might be saved)
here we go
Captain of the first company (Belial rulewise), with sword of silence and SB (130)
4* Deathwing Squad with 1 Chainfist and 1 Assault Cannon (1000)
1* Deathwing Squad with 4 Lightning Claws, 1 with Heavy Flamer, 1 apothecary (250)
this is the core, representing 1380 points
for 1500 I'd add
FA Ravenwing Attack Squadron (bare bones) (120)
Ravenwing Attack Squadron, maxed out units,
with sergeant with Power weapon, melta bombs, biker with meltagun
Devastator Squad (10 man)
with 2 multi meltas, 1 plasma cannons
Does this look good to play?
My local meta tends toward a couple of vehicles, almost no full mech, lots of elites
comments warmly welcome
I am a DA player as well but i have to say to you:Use codex SM for better. If you want to make deathwing take Lysander and name him belial. Our codex was an experiment(even the damn writter of the dex confeshed so!)for the 5th edition and as such you get half the rules from each edition and most of the wargear is overpriced.
Praise be to the Emperor!!
(I prefer to take codices I like, I have a small Grey Knight contigent, a good chunk Dark Eldar, some Sisters and my Lamenters, all chosen for feel rather then rules, though I've had 2 of them updated in a small timespan, all of these seem intresting to me, and the only nilla legions I like are Salamanders and Raven Guard, and I do not have the means to represent them (few melta, flamers, no scouts) so won't be using that, and I really liked the Dark Angels, considering how close they are feelingswise to my Lamenters)
@Pilot - if someone wants to use an older codex for good, then I see no reason to stop them.
The list isn't bad, overall. I'd suggest getting a couple dreadnoughts or predators in there for handling enemy tanks, but otherwise it looks ok. Devastators really aren't a great choice in the DA codex
It's not bad. It's massively less AT then I could ever get away with...but my usual opponent is an IG hybrid player.
As for the advice part.Id drop the devs as stated before and change them with preds.if you wish to run terms add a crusader and an interogetor to the mix. When i used the dex i usually had belial(obviously if you need many terms)and an interogator for the CC terms.I had equiped them with lightining claws and one heavyflamer/chainfist combo in the squad, though lightning claws &chaplain might be a bit cheasy remember that DA can only take 5man squads of terms.
As a general rule remember there is absolutely no reason(except points cost perhps)to take normal H.Qs.By all means use the named chars.
As for Ezekiel if you are refering to his mind worm, its a good ability fluff wise but if you actually use it youll see that there are a lot high leadeship armies and the insta kill it promises is not so good. Now if you have the good side of the dice the template attack(forgot the name)is awsome if you can make both rolls as needed.
Edit:I am not really a veteran i had my share of gunshots though. All the above is personal 'undistilled' experience mostly.I have more experience with all bike armies though under the tutulege of the master of the realm of speed:Red Archer!

yeah maybe the dev's weren't the brightest idea, the plan was using them and who would watch the powerarmoured guys, while there are 5 termie squads running around, I was playing from the 'those seem the smallest threat', while Dreads and Pred have huge targets above them, but yeah, they're overpriced
uhu, I like the assault squad idea, might do that one, if I find the points somewhere, I seem really low at numbers as is, no need making it worse I thought?
in our LGS, only few people take named characters, and only for theme just for the reason you described, a diffrent mindset
(though we have a BA player taking Dante, Sanguinor and Lemartes in 1,5k? )
Ezekiel seems cool though, small question, can Ezekiel sweeping advance in a termie unit, and if so, can the termies consolidate after Ezekiel wiped them?
What i get from your question is if Ezekiel can preform a sweeping advance and then a consolidation as long as he's attached to a termy unit right?Well he maybe powerarmored but as long as hes attached to the terms he cannot. In order to do he needs to leave the unit and this is something that he cant do during that face.Ezekiel seems cool though, small question, can Ezekiel sweeping advance in a termie unit, and if so, can the termies consolidate after Ezekiel wiped them?
