Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey all, it's been a long time since I've posted here but I'm back into the game and have revamped my IG army. It's still a work in progress but I want to get some feedback before spending any more money on it.
I know I could tweak my CCS squad, maybe drop the extra armor or the chimera. I got some advice from a local store owner who uses the same squad (minus the armor I think) and he likes it. I don't know if the Chimera is worth it here because you can't move and shoot with Hvy Weapons.
Storm Trooper Squad 1
Storm Trooper Squad 2
Vet Squad 1
Vet Squad 2
Vet Squad 3
Leman Russ Battle Tank
I've got the points right on, I'm just not sure about the list itself. My Heavy Support is a little messy and could probably use a revamp. The same store owner highly recommended Pask in that configuration. As long as he can sit still and have LOS he can be very devastating.
Also, if I put tanks in squadrons do they have to target the same enemy unit or can they fire at separate targets? I just need a little clarification as I don't have the rule book handy. Thanks!
I have to respectfully disagree with HK on the hellhound and its variants. They are the only way for an IG player to field a multi melta. A multimelta on a fast chassis is a terror vs vehicles. I am building my 2nd and looking to add a 3rd (Hellhound w/ hull multimelta). The cover denial and template placement of the inferno cannon is also a joy. It usually takes my opponents 2-3 turns of shooting to wreck one. This is time that they aren't pointing their AV fire against my mech vet squads. Keeping your vet squads alive longer helps you win games.
In summary, the Hellhound rates higher in my affections that the demolisher.
Praise the Emperor and pass the promethium!
Oh I'm not putting down the idea of Multi Meltas on Hellhound chassis. I think it's a fantastic upgrade for them. I've just never had luck with the Devildog. blast melta sounds nice, but I prefer the ranged template that the hellhound brings. As for meltas on the hellhound chassis, I've never actually killed anything with it, but that's not why I take them. For me, it's forcing the opponent to acknowledge the fact that my anti infantry hellhound is more than capable of wiping out his Land Raider. I like making the other guy make tough decisions on how to use his anti tank.
Thanks for the responses!
I'll drop the snipers and armor on the CCS, but what should I take instead of the snipers? Maybe Plasma?
As far as the configuration I have for Pask it works out as follows: If he stays stationary you add 1 when rolling for penetration (basically just add to the strength of the weapons) so you end up with 4 twin-linked shots at strength 8 vs vehicles. Plus if I'm close enough I can throw in the meltas (I'm not sure if the hobby store guy used the sponsons or not) and I at least still have the lascannon which becomes a strength 10 weapon vs vehicles (although I NEVER roll right for lascannons....)
I'll rework the list and edit it by the end of tonight.
