This list is an demonstration in firepower. I've actually played this list once and the problem I had was I couldn't get out of my own way and around terrain in order to get to objectives properly. That being said, I tabled my opponent (Orks) since the board was so packed he couldn't get off proper multicharges.
2x CCS w/ 3xMelta, 1xFlamer
2x PBS with Overseer + 6 Psykers
All in Chimeras with ML/HF
2x Hydra Squadrons (2 Each)
That is 16 AV12 Hulls. On the terrain we used (city ruins), it was actually cumbersome due to stunned/immobilized hulls blocking routes. I actually preferred wrecks so I could drive over them.
The star of the game was the Hellhounds that were able to reach over the traffic jams and hose down entire alleyways of Boyz.
2 PBS Pie Plates
8 twin-linked autocannons
16 Hull-Mounted Heavy Flamers
Is the the perfect list? Far from it. But it shows you the sheer amount of firepower you can bring to bear if you build efficiently. I figured I'd share since I've been seeing a lot of rather non-efficient lists out there and wanted to demonstrate some possibilities.
I also wanted to show how Mech can work without Vendettas. In the future I will just bring Russes to bring in tougher, but fewer, hulls. I'd also play with the weapons mixes a little since FlamerVets are kinda tuned for anti-Ork duty.
I'm a little pained at putting flamers on vets, but I suppose that it is cheaper than fielding a platoon just to be able to field SWSs.
Praise the Emperor and pass the promethium!

Hmm, Nidzilla (or it's successor) is one army that nobody seems to play around here anymore. Doesn't the Autocannon wound everything but their heavy slots on a 3+?
@IronWeevil : I undertand your pain. I've also experimented with 2xMelta, 1 Flamer and it was less effective, for me at least. A Mech CCS can go with 3 Meltas and a Heavy Flamer for 155, but can also be nice.
Dropping one Hydra and putting the rest as singletons opens up more points to play with as well.
Anyways, I just thought I'd share a little since I've been commenting a lot lately. My ideal build does, of course, have Vendettas... if I ever finish building the darned things.
So, you won with that list? I'm guessing it wasn't a kill points mission since it has a whopping 24 KPs. The Ork player could have had a third of that.
Speaking of non-efficient lists, this one is not only focused almost exclusively on point-blank firepower but, by your own admission, had trouble moving units to where they were needed as well. I've been seeing a lot of such lists lately (Blood Angels in particular) and I consider them living proof that statistical supremacy isn't everything. It's always nice to see another Guard general not relying on Vendetta crutches but I'd love to play against this list with my heavy-armor IG.
Out of curiosity, what sort of non-efficient lists have you been seeing?Or plasma. I've had a plasma CCS one-shot a burrowing Trygon more than once. Some day, I'll give that unit my only Valkyrie so they can one-shot a Tervigon on Turn 1 before it can breed, too, but that's kind of a grudge-match thing. I despise Tervis.Originally Posted by SandWyrm

Sorry it took so long for me to respond.
Oddly enough, it was a KP mission, but tabling is an autowin. He had trucks, bikers, koptas, that super-outflanker character. To tell the truth, his army was all primed black, so it was hard to remember what was what. There was just a lot of it :p
I played heavy to my left flank and sacrificed my right. I tried to sweep right through the midfield, but I have had so much armor (stunned and/or immobilized) I was stuck between buildings. Luckily, Orks generally come to you. My Psykers had his Lootas run off early on.
My gaming group can be a little inbred at times; with a heavy tendency towards using a lot of terrain. I'm going to be branching out to the local store soon, just to try new things.
As for inefficient lists, at the time I think I was referring to useless upgrades, abhumans, battleforce stuff. It is amazing how when you cut the fat you can fit whole extra units into lists.
Have you considered Al'Rahem? I know he's not well liked but he'd let you bypass a lot of the parking lot issues. I've been using him to really nice effect.
