Storm Knights - 1500 Point Codex Space Marines Tournament List

This list came out of my desire to attend the autumn Throne of Skulls tournament at Warhammer World to give me a hard deadline to get my army completed by.

I built it trying to make sure I had enough anti-tank to deal with vehicle heavy armies as well as ensuring I have enough troop choices to capture objectives and bring massed fire to bear on horde armies; having been out of the Hobby since the Land Raider Crusader first launched you can imagine that I'm not entirely confident in my list building as yet and would like to get the Veterans' input on this list.

The idea behind all the big squads with Razorbacks (aside from the fact I love the Razorback model) is that in Objective games I can split the squads and have one Combat Squad able to advance in the Razorbacks to control the table, while the shooty half hangs back. In kill point games I can keep them as one big squad and use the transports as mobile gun platforms.

Scouts are on the list as I like the models, and the sniper rifles should allow for them to punch above their weight.

But enough of my justifications, please nitpick away.

HQ: He's OK. I might prefer a Librarian for the point saving and psy defence is very useful in tournaments.

Troops: Tac squads look fine. Try for a PF on the melta squad sarge so you can assault tanks better if the melta misses. 1 squad of sniper scouts are good at holding objectives I think I would try for another tac squad rather than 10 scouts. drop all extra armour from transports.

Heavy: Devastators really suck, too static and expensive. Compare them to blood angel devastators and you see how over priced they are. Replace them for attack bikes with MM. They are tougher and can move and fire and even turboboost. Plus the MM is a better AT weapon than the ML even at mid range. the 12" move should more than make up for the MMs 24" range. I would then add in a pred and/or vindicator to take some of the heat off your razorbacks.

    1. for the librarian is it worth the 50 points to use both of your librarian powers a turn?
    2. is there enough anti-tank in the list to justify the extra points cost of the predator annihilator, or should i build it as a standard destructor model?
    3. is it worth paying the extra 10 points to replace the attack bikes with multi-melta armed land speeders?

HQ: It depends on what powers you take and if you think you will need to use them both on several occasions in each game otherwise just keep him cheap.

Troops: Good. Scout ML isnt really needed as it doesnt really compliment the snipers. drop it if you are short of points at the end.

Fast: Good. Land speeders with MM + HF are a good design and if your army contains lots of tanks then they can be worth it. But attack bikes may be more survivable than an AV10 vehicle?

Heavy: Pred should take AC+2LC, vindicator can drop the SB as it cannot fire any other weapons if you use ordnance that turn. Same applies to the whirlwind.

95 Points of savings mentioned above. 2 more attack bikes or a second librarian could be fun.
