This is a new all mounted assualt list. The idea behind the army is to be right in your face first/second turn with the infiltrating veterans and leman russ providing covering fire while the chimera + orgns move up. The valkyrie includes the penal legionarres and priest as with a bit of luck and a scout move they can get a 1st turn charge with 3 rending attacks each re-rolling misses to hit and if not i find usefull anyway. Please could i have some feedback cheers.
Primaris Pskyer 70
Minostorum Priest 45
Ogryn Squad 130
Veteran Squad 80
Veteran Squad 150
Penal Legion 80
Leman Russ Battle Tank 180
From what I hear Ogryns are not all that wonderful. The cost a fortune and while decent in combat they are no where near the best. Also sponsoons are a waste, and your veteran squads should all take the same special weapon. Our guys don't multi task very well.
You should try out the "Chimelta" squad. Veterans with 3 meltas in a Chimera with Multi Laser and Heavy Flamer, at 155 its a pretty good deal.
My pre-game strategy: Unit A will outflank, Unit B will give supporting fire, and Unit C will advance slowly as Batteries A,B & C pound away at the enemy
What actually happens: All units fix bayonets and charge!
Right off the bat I've got to say this seems to be a really inefficient list. If I had to guess I would say you are getting maybe half the fire power you could get from 1000pts worth of guard and many of your points are going to waste on useless upgrades and stupid redundancies.
Here are some things I think you could do to drastically improve the points efficiency of your army.
Also, did you intend to take these as stand allone units or as dedicated transports for your veteran squads?
BS4 is something that should be cherished in a guard army. don't waste it on cheap weapons like flamers & Grenade launchers. You should take full advantage of it and give your veterans some weapons that can really do some damage.
For Harker's unit I would recommend bulking out on meltas and taking the demotions doctrine. mount that in a chimera and you've got yourself a pretty nasty anti tank unit that will scare the shit out of even other guard players.
using multimelta sponsons with a standard battle cannon is just about one of the most inefficient tank load outs one could take IMO. Melta sponsons are rendered mostly redundant on a tank that is going to remain stationary for most of the game. In which case you would be better off taking either HB sponsons or none at all. If your plan is to try and get into multimelta range of other vehicles, you would be better off ditching the battle cannon and taking advantage of the demolisher cannon's higher S and AP.
My advice would be to either run this tank with a battle cannon and 3 HBs or take a demolisher cannon instead if you intend to take multimeltas.
All in all a decent list. you just need to try and make better use of your available points.
