So im just starting out a looking for points. Feel free to tear apart my army. To start ill go over three battles ive done so far. The army i used for them changed everytime, and since yesterday (my second and third battle) I have changed it again to what im about to post.
Battle #1: 1500pt necron, ork, and me FFA
I was on an end of the table protecting two objectives. The orks and necros both had to take one. The Ork deployed nearly full force on one side of the table (width) and on turn two the nercons came in on the direct other side.
I did fairly well in holding my ground from both of them, and to be honest if it was for a deepstrike miscalc the Necrons would have steam rolled me, as i wasnt set up for his whole army to come on that side (he rolled to see where he came in bad luck for me)
Anyways by the end of the game, i had taken out the little remaining necrons and forced them to phase out, and then turned my attention to the green tide rolling through my other side with Ghazghkull leading, thankfully my Meltas and las cannons forced him to be a tiny bit more careful on where he moved. Regardless i won this by default, after he had taken an objective from me... but not his objective, and turns ran up.
The next game, this was set up by corners.
its was this time again 1500 points, me, the orks, but a tryanid army this time.
there was three objectives, but the game was so long it turned into near annihilation. By the end there wasn't much left, and the Orks won. However, not before good Ol' Marbo finished off a squad of nobz with some fantastic rolling! however I was forced off a different objective i had while dealing with those damn nids... then the orks came in and cleaned house. So the end game orks won by holding one objective, and them and myself were contesting another while the third was open. The nids were wiped out.
The last game was very quick. Table width (myself and nids) and directly next to us the orcs in full force. First turn i was set upon by genestealers and lots and lots of orcs. Didnt work out well for me this time through. Put up a hell of a fight took a lot of both of thier armies.
Now the part where you get to tear apart my army and fill me with new ideas, again i just got done writing this list up, and only physically changed a couple things not everything. Also i have not played with this army yet. here goes!
Company command squad-
-commander (Plasma pistol, Power sword)
platoon command squads x2 (below is for both)
-las pistol, power sword
Shock Troops 10 squads
-grenade launchers or Flamers (one per squad, havent decided which yet if either, they are also point fillers)
Heavy weapons squads
-one has auto cannon, and the other has las cannon
Kasrkin ten man squad
-power sword (on SGT)
Leman russ Demolisher
-heavy flamer on the front
-heavy flamers on the sponsons
Basilisk (no upgrades)
That is one of two set ups i currently have on paper but the only one that according to my math hit 1500 pts on the dot. please let me know what you think. To add other armies i will be facing in the future will be space marines, as we have two people who play them.

HQ: Footslogging meltas won't get to fire often especially as the enemy get to shoot a juicy melta squad and kill your orders in one go. Carapace won't be enough. Drop the PW and carapace for a chimera. Consider a standard too to keep the chaps happy.
Troops: PCS with 4 flamers are great, adding chimeras makes them very useful and more survivable. Platoon squads I would arm one platoon with AC+GL in each squad and add HWS to them with the CCS keeping them happy and using bring it down orders on the HWS to kill tanks and monsters. the other platoon arm with GLs so they can be more mobile and advance.
Elites: If you pay a fortune for storm troops then for the Emperors sake don't replace the nice expensive hotshots with flamers or GLs. Plasma or melta maybe but I would just keep them cheap. PW is ok but should be dropped if you need the points. Marbo is good.
Heavy: Basilisk with a hull HF but I prefer the manticore. Russ with hull HB. HF sponsons are a complete waste. If you move 1" you can only fire 1 flamer so having 3 in effect means you hope the enemy will surround the tank in a horseshoe of troops and decide to not assault you. Russ shouldnt get that close. As the enemy reach 18" range or so leman russ should start backing up 6" a turn and keep firing the ruttet and a HB. Demolishers with hull lascannon can also be fun, better agaainst tanks and termies but the main gun is shorter ranged.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
Yes, im currently looking into a chimera at the very least for my CCS now. Not sure about the available points for my PCS's. One platoon already has AC, and LC, along with GLs (now). The other is to be outfitted with GLs now as well.
The Kasrkin, i have indeed removed the GL, Flamer and PW from the mix, and give them all including el' sergeant HS las-rifles. Marbo will forever be on my army list... i love him too much. Every army should have a Marbo! (custom built mine since i thought the one GW site was retarded looking)
The Bas does indeed have a HF, as it was free. The Demolisher i have though... i left three Flamers on him because of the *ordnance* rule... given the chance i would gladly fire my main gun over a heavy stubber (which i know out ranges it) or storm bolter (same range). However i despise the fact it causes pinning.... because it rarely does any damage to infantry... +2 saves are not hard to make, Also those damn 2d6 scatter die with it is another downside... Anyways because of the damn ordnance rule i left the Flamers on to dish out some damage to the damn swarm armies i face when they do manage to catch up.... and Orks are good at catching up. As for the lascannon i am tempted to put it on... but for the termies... id just field an executioner.
This isnt to argue the tips you gave, as i did indeed take heed to them. Its also to make sure my mind is in the right area for how i have been playing them. Again another reply to this will keep my brain going and educate me more... if you wouldnt mind indulging me. please keep in mind, i tend to maintain a very defensive mind.
