So this is a 1750 list i plan to build, its my first completed army and this is by no means all that i will ever own for it, but its a start i think.
Reclusiarch, jump pack - 155 pr Librarian, jump pack - 125
(Not sure if i will use the librarian or reclusiarch. i will probably get one of each and try them out, whats your pick?)
Sanguinary Guard, 1 power fist - 210
(Well after much thought i will field a unit of sang guard. They look awesome, and will probably be a blast to paint. I dont think they will perform over the top on the field tho, but time will tell.)
Sanguinary Priest, jp - 75
(Yes, 1 priest. it will probably do his job, might take a second one in the future, but for now 1 should work.)
10 Assault Squad, 2 melta, pfist - 235
10 Assault Squad, 2 melta, pfist - 235
10 Assault Squad, 2 Flamer, p-weapon - 215
(Ground troops, 2 kited out to be able to deal with walkers and vehicles and the other to take on swarms and similar fiends.)
Baal , sponsoons 135/145
Baal , sponsoons, 135/145
(two tanks to improve my armored units. i think i plan to use sponsoons in the start, i will magnetize everything so i can probably live and learn what works best.)
Dread - Multi Melta/fist 105
Dread - Assault cannon/Fist 115
Dread - Plasma/Missile 120
(Yes, 3 cute dreadnoughts. I just love this unit and this is a first draft on what weapons to use. i need to get 4 auto cannons or so, but other then that everything is also magnetized and can be changed to any preference. )
So its not built to be the hardest list ever, its my first completed 1750 list and will probably be improves for years to come. But what is your general thoughts about it? is it just doomed to lose against everything? Also, the general armies i will play against will not field the biggest toughest hard to beat lists there is. Most will be around the same "power" so to speak.
Librarian is better, you have no death company. What powers are you thinning of using, i reckon unleash rage and one other.
The sang guard won't be that amazing, but trey could cause a lot of damage if they are near the sang priest.
One sang priest will be fine, i only use 1 in 2000 pts.
Assault squads are fine, the flamers could always be useful.
Basks should have assault cannon and heave boater sponsons.
I prefer to drop pod or storm raven my dreads in, i find they are too slow when they are just walking. If you are going to walk them then make them all like your third with 2 ranged weapons.
Now, you owe me a penny.
Why not have both Librarian and Reclusiarch? Double HQ is good in 1750 and up. Or you can do Libby and a Chaplain as an elite. Whatever works for you man. I use both all the time. Sang Guard on the other hand I find to only be good in smaller games. You can use there points for another priest and other squads. There is only really one way to make the Baal Pred, Dakka!! Heavy Bolter sponsons are the only way to go. Oh, please tell me your going to pod in the Dread's? But anyways I hope this helps.
Ok just a thought why dont you try and fit in some death company with jump packs that way your reclusiarch has a unit to go into and you could even swap one of your dreds for a death company dread and in my experance the death company and death company dred with blood talons and reclusiarch together will proform better than your sanguinary guard anyway just a thought.
Let us know what your final list is and how you get on with it.
Seems fine. My only comment is that you need a unit to hold your home objective. Scouts, maybe? They can take a support weapon at any size, can handle close combat reasonably well and help keep the Dreads from bogging down in CC. Maybe lose a Baal to afford them...of all the units in the list, they're the most expendable.
Keep the Reclusiarch, unless you really need a psychic hood. There's nothing worse than failing a critical leadership test when your offense depends on only a few units; furthermore, his charge bonus is still useful for non-DC troops.

Are Flamestorm Cannons and Heavy Flamers Sponsons never worth it on Baal Preds? Does it Depend on what you want to do, or is flame never a good option?
