Been around with the idea of making a 1000 p list based purely around tactical squad marines, they are the formidable trooper as anyone must see so putting them together should make a nasty list! This is what i came up with.
Captain with relic blade.
10 marines w flamer and misele launcher.
10 marines w flamer and misele launcher, power fist.
10 marines w melta and misele launcher, power fist.
10 marines with meltagun and misele launcher, power fist.
This should be prettymuch exactly 1000 p, and the main tactic would be splitting al the squads in combat squads with pretty much every battle. I would then have a solid 20 marine firebase with 4 misele launchers with also 20 marines(with all the sergeants and special issue weapons) plus the captain in the Rhino and Razorbacks in full assault capturing objectives.
Plenty of antitank, numbers, and scoring units(8!) id say, whats your oppinion?
My wolves list for 1000 points has 4 missiles, 4 meltaguns, 3 combimeltas, 3 plasma pistols and 4+d6 autocannon shots per turn. I really have to suggest that you dump a tactical squad or two in favour of some fire support units.
drop one tactical squad and chuck some twin linked lascannons of the razorbacks which have a transport capacity of 6 so the captain can go in with 5 marines, though if you are giving your leader a relic blade either give him a combi weapon or a storm shiled.
as for the anti tank thing, expect to deal with av14 and bring along something that can hurt it at range, which is why i recomand at least two twin linked lascannons, i would though swap one flamer for another melta.
Watch wood, my 1000 point wolf list is not neary that effective, i have got two missile, 4 combi-meltas and one normal melta, but i do have a lot of power fists.
Powerfists are useful, but the problem with them is that you gotta get into CC to use them, and they're 25 points. I've been eschewing them in favour of combi-meltas lately, and I've been pretty happy with the results.
Are you particularly set on the Captain? A librarian with Machine Curse and Null Zone would be quite useful for you, letting you stunlock vehicles and neutralize invul saves at will, and also giving you some psychic defense.
Also your "dev squad" (wolfy whatever cheese) is cheaper and better. Not that I'm complaining. Just want to state how different a space wolf list is going to look.
Vulkan can make up for melta problems but he's overused and I get annoyed by him.
