    1750pt Purifier Grey Knights

    Iím going to do an army Iíve wanted to do since reading ĎA Thousand Sonsí.
    I plan to use the Grey Knights codex and do a purifier list because the Scarab Occult used different types of psykers. So Iím going to make the majority of my forces of the Pyrae cult (pyrokinetics). So hereís the list Iím thinking aboutÖ

    HQ
    150 Crowe


    ELITES
    149 -Techmarine:
    3 Servo skulls and Orbital strike
    (A interesting unit with the bombardment rules however Iím a bit unsure about having a single wound model by himself at the back even with the 2+ save and 4/3+ cover save.

    145- Vindicare Assassin

    (I like this guy very much, heíll be deployed with the techmarine so he can get a 2+ save. He is a bit out of place in the theme, but Iím sure I can find someway around it.)

    Bit smaller than what Iím used to it so it should take a while to master. I would really like to find a way to fit a teleporting sword wielding dread knight in there to represent magnus the red?

    someone suggested I use a grand master instead of the techmarine that way I can make my dreadknight and assassin scoring units with his grand strategy ablity and add +1 to the dreadknight's arrival, but it will cost an extra 90pts.

    Anyway Iím sure youíve all read the grey knight codex, so let me know what you think & wheather or not I should find away to put the dreadknight and grand master in?

    HQ: OK, put him in the unused transport of your fire support purifier squad.

    Elites: I would ditch the tech marine to keep your model count up.

    Troops: With the spare 149 points upgrade your purifiers to 10 man units and add more psycannon. These can combat squad with the psycannon in cover holding home objectives. The other 5 man squads can go in the transports so might as well upgrade these to razorbacks with psybolts. One squad can take psybolt ammo and stay in a 10 man unit and footslog laying down lots of firepower, their razorback can carry crowe.

    Heavy: Fine but should cost 135 each.

    I’ve been thinking of alternative list’s that won’t require me to spend a huge about on the purifier models that will be converted from FW Iron Armour with GK Bits. Here my 2nd list…

    I then thought of another alternative if I can make purifiers scoring unit with the ’Master Strategy’ Ability why take Crowe? I just need to take 2 terminators for troops and then I have the option to make the purifiers (& maybe the Dreadknight) scoring units based on the mission or use the scout rule instead.

    It’s frustrating finding the right Grey Knights list given how I limit my self with the cost of the converted purifiers. I could just do a Greywing army and mount the converted Thousand Sons veterans on detailed 40mm bases and use them as terminators, saying they're in artificer armour but given how all grey knights have the same wargear options that could be confusing for my opponents?

    So which list do you prefer?

    I've made some improvement and have come down to two lists, which to you think is more effective?

    List 1 - GROUND ASSAULT

    290 - 8 Purifiers:

    288 - 8 Purifiers: 2 Psycannons, 1 master crafted Daemon hammer, 3 Halberds, Psybolt ammo and a rhino.

    225 - 5 Grey Knight Terminators: 2 Halberds, 1 Hammer, 1 Psycannon.

    1. As far as GK in power armor go, ALWAYS upgrade their swords to halberds. They don't have a ward save, so the swords are useless.

    2. Terminators should also trade in their swords for halberds, just because they're free.

    3. A DK starts with 2 nemesis doomfists, which count as 2 dreadnought CC weapons, which I believe to be far better than the greatsword or demonhammer. Just give it a heavy incinerator, a heavy psilencer, a porter, and off he goes to ruin your opponent's day! ...
