Welcome to Librarium Online!
I used to play with space marines when I first got into the hobby at age 7 (thank my dad for that one, he been a gamer for years too), when i reached 18 or so I decided that "every man and his dog had marines" so i sold mine and opted for a death guard force and also I have my fledgeling imperial guard force on the go (actually imperial army but shhhhh), recently however at the age of 22 i have decided that marines cant really be that bad and i realised then that i missed space marines in their vanilla goodness, allways a reliable fall back for a game and I like the idea, so after reading the 3rd siege of Vraks book i decided upon red hunters and came up with the following list:
Space Marine Chaplain: jump pack, melta bombs.
Tactical Squad: Plasma cannon, plasma gun and combi-plasma.
Tactical Squad: Plasma cannon, plasma gun and combi-plasma, rhino with extra storm bolter.
Tactical Squad: multi-melta, melta gun, combi-melta, powerfist and rhino with extra storm bolter.
Scout squad (10 strong): combi-plasma, heavy bolter, camo cloaks.
Assault squad (10 strong): power sword, combat shield, 2 flamers.
2 Land speeders: both with multi meltas.
3 land speeders: all with heavy bolters.
1500 points of speedy quick tailored to killing chaos wherever it rears its head so, what do people think.

the add on for this army was a purely fluff concept of "burn the heretic"
Sternguard squad (10 strong): 7x combi-flamers, 2x heavy flamers, lightning claw.
Drop pod: deathwind missile launcher.
Chaplain Cassius: (red hunters high chaplain "Pharr")
500 points for burning the heretical.
anyone have any advice or suggestions for me on this one?
no advice or tips? forseen problems?? nothing or is the list reasonable already?
In general: I see one big weakness in your list, mainly against AV13 and/or Dreadnought/MC strong lists. The main problem is that most of your "anti-tank" is plasmas, which means its really "anti-MEQ". Look at it this way, in 1500 points my regular marine list has 2 Vindicators, 1 Predator and 1 Ironclad Dreadnought in addition to the transports. Can your 1 tactical melta-squad and 2 multi-melta speeders handle four AV13 vehicles?
The second problem is a derivative of first: MoTF list at 1500 points can run 4 to 5 AV12 and AV13 Dreadnoughts. Can you stop them before they assault you? Because after they assault, you are in world of hurt... meltabombs and grenades are almost no use against walkers.
Revenant Moon Necrons: (W/L/D) 0/1/0 (6th edition: 13/2/2)(5th edition: 14/6/4)(3rd edition Codex: 16/4/7)
XIX Legion: (W/L/D) 0/0/0 (5th edition: 14/12/2)(5th edition Codex: 4/3/0)
Black Legion: (W/L/D) 1/0/0 (6th edition: 2/3/0)
Something Wicked... Reikwald Beastmen: (W/L/D) 10/4/1
I've never read the Siege of Vraks; didn't know if you were going for a themed list or not.Originally Posted by lukebardy
Your list is a bit too static for my tastes--two Rhinos is not quite enough to be reliable. Since you seem partial to speeders, maybe switch the 2-speeder choice for a Landspeeder Storm, and put half your scouts in there? That would add some tactical flexibility.
The Sternguard would be more useful with combi-meltas. You're sure to encounter a hard target or two at the 2,000 points level.
