    1500 pts spam the enemy with targets list

    Heya i play alot of GK players and as we all know they are tiny armies that cant deal with alot of different units at the same time. with this in mind i thought id spam a list to make them cry when they see how many units i have for them to deal with



    CCS, 2 melta 90

    Primaris 70

    PCS 1 melta 40
    5 Infantry squads melta 300

    PCS 1 melta 40
    5 Infantry squads melta 300

    PCS 1 melta 40
    5 Infantry squads melta 300

    PCS 1 melta 40
    5 Infantry squads melta 300




    thats a total of 226 men with 26 melta guns

    they will of course try and sit in cover as much as possible

    The goal of this list is not so much to ensure a win but to give the GK plays sooooo many targets it baffles him whilst still having a chance of killing him

    Why not axe two platoons and the primaris and then get 13 chimeras for added survivability and a hell of an annoyance. The left over 35 points can be used to add more meltas to the command squads and buy melta bombs some where.

    Would also make you more competitive against a wider range of opponents.

    hahaha i love it, if i had 13 chimeras i would do it. sadly i only have 6

    could go for 6 chimeras and just put special weapon teams in them coz no-one uses them

    sadly yes i do, got around 300 foot sloggers of one variety or another, with 9 artillery pieces, 15 battle tanks, 6 chimeras and 9 vendettas plus 9 sentinels

    i went mad when i first started as id came into a bit of money

    You're on the wrong track entirely. You're throwing away the IG advantages of big guns and good vehicles, you're (not) countering his GK bolters by walking up the field with lasguns and a few meltaguns and, most importantly, once you do get close the GK player will simply perform multiple-target charges and kill 3 or more units every turn.

    He will be getting 20+ kills for every one of yours. That will not be a fun game. You can baffle a cat by dropping him into a mouse farm, but only because there's so much fun to be had that he won't know where to start. The mice are still not going to win.

    A better approach is heavy-armor. I speak from experience that GKs really hate ordnance, especially when it comes on vehicles their super-autocannons have trouble killing. The Russ Demolisher in particular is a near-perfect counter to Draigowing. Those Sentinels on your shelf are also viable--even Purifiers will need to multi-cast Hammerhand just to have a chance at hurting an Armored Sentinel. Don't play to their strengths; play to yours. Drop the hammer!

    WOOHOO! A proper Guard player. I can just about get 210 on the table with flamers in the squads and meltas in the HQ at 1500 points, so very well done indeed! In a similar vein to Intrepid 's comments above, I use three basilisks for heavy ranged work. Unfortunately they're quite weak but do their job on a regular basis when squeezed into a corner. Still, that's me. I was saddled with three from my fourth ed CSM codex Iron Warriors list and all three cost a total of £20 so I didn't lose anything.

    If you've got the models, use them. Keep up the good work.

    im not writing this list to win, the guys i tend to play have around 20 purifiers and 2 land raiders and a couple of dreads in their 1500 pts list. and i have no problem winning when i use a propper list.

    my normal 1500pts list that is to take on anyone is

    CCS with straken and meltas in chimera

    3 vet squads with plas in chimera

    2 vet squads in vendetta with melta and demo

    demolisher with melta sponsons

    executioner with plasma sponsons


    with this list ive never lost against any form of SM army

    the above list was designed to make it so i could put as many models on the board as possible while maintaining a chance of winning - over whelm the GK with crap units but soooooooo many of them

    I like that list similar to 1500 point I played last monday and tabled the guy by the end of my turn 3.

    1ST SQUAD 10 VET TROOPS 3 MELTA GUNS, CHIMERA 155

    2ND HEAVY SQUAD EXTERMINATOR HEAVY BOLTER
    3RD HEAVY SQUAD MANTICORE HF

    GKs are really easy for mech guard to kill. Meltaguns are so good vs Paladins, their 4+ cover save seems weak vs THSS terminators and ST8 doubles them out.

    The big blobs are such horrific purifier bait that I dunno how you'd compensate. Add power fists/swords to everyone who can take them and you'll probably cope pretty well. You'll still take gross losses though. Too bad there's no way to get FNP into regular guard squads. Damn lazy medics.
