Should be interesting to see how well this army works, only one transport which i expect opponents to fire most of their stuff at. For 'friendly' games the army is 1503pts and i'll pretend it's 1500 - if i were to use this at a tournament id remove the Storm Bolter from the list and say it's just a bolt pistol.
First off id like to say that i think that Relic Blade/Storm Shield build is very effective build for the Captain
Im a little concerned with your Tac Marines - 2 reasons - 1) lack of mobility 2) open targets - i just think for such cheep transport (compared to other armies) your alway better off going that way (just my opinion) - Are u combat squading?
Im a little confused with your dreadnought build - what role is it playing? I normally go all one way or another
Land Raider will do well, as long as u give it a safe route (its always the number one target) - Im a sucker for a land raider, they just own on many levels
I Haven't had much experience with your other unites so i wont waist your time with that
Im not seeing much in the way of anti horde - maybe trade the meltas for flamers on tac squads, i think u already have ample anti heavy units
Thats my two cents - Hope it had some use
Thanks for your time
Ive yet to try the relic blade/storm shield combo so it'll be interesting to see what happens.
If i set the board up with lots of scenery then no transport for the tactical squads wont matter that much, this list came about due to trying not to spend any money and using what i have lying around (plus lascannons in devstator squads are expensive).
The dread shoots at tanks and any units dumb enough to be out in the open, while wandering along the table and basically hopes he comes into contact with some squishy infantry to hit with his fist and flamer.
Most of the armies i face are T3 and at least one is 5+ armour save so bolters will do, yes i know they are walking and so restricted to 12" but as if i set the board up with enough terrain should be fine. I am considering combat squading one or two Tactical squads.
Alright so this is not a universal list, well in this specific scenario this list will do just fine then - Give it a go and alter as u need to, Enjoy
If i find i need transports i can replace the dread with 3 Rhinos, but that'll cost me £60 which id rather not spend.
Consider yourself lucky - here in Australia we pay 2.5 times more than it would cost you
