I am playing a space wolf player in a friendly tournament between friends to help new players in the group (or new armies like mine) to play better. He is good but ive beaten him with my orks several times. He did just beat a Crimson Fist player so is pumped. Would this be a good or at least decent army to have?
Oh ya I forgot to add that this match is in 2 days, and would like to know as soon as possible if this would work or if I should make some last minute changes
depends on how + what he runs and how you run your list. first off this list could work well if you keep your core together. the libarian in one unit and the priest in another, the libby sheilding them all and the priest feeding hteir frenzy with his chalice. one thing though you need to pick your phsycic powers before the game so id reccoment doing that. preference wise id say unlease rage for rerolls and sheild of sanguinius to mitigte any heavy weaponry hitting your lines.
then for playing, dont play fair, use your speed to pick your targets, shoot anything up with your snipers etc thats better than you in cc. and try tp put more bodies into any charge than are on the recieving end. just remember that if your honour guard fire their plasma guns they cant charge afterwards.
Thanks for the input, Nat01
I was thinking of Unleash Rage and Shield for the powers, just forgot to add that to the list. Thats how i was planning to play them, but this is my first match with a BA army like this one. His list will probably have the same core as the last time I played him:
Rune Priest w/ Living lightning, Jaws of Wolf
(he stays back with the Long Fangs and hits people, normally does pretty good with them)
Long Fangs x6 - 5 ML 1 sarge
2x 6man GH in a Razorback
A dreadnaught with TL Lascannon to take out heavy armor and heavy top priority targets.
Some Wolf Guard, sometimes in drop pod, sometimes in other things.
He'll probably also be trying out some new SW models like: Arjac, fenrisian wolves or the Thunderwolf Cav.
Basically he plays a shooty/normal SW army but with 1 or 2 units that can really pack a punch (WG, TWC, SkyClaws for fun)
pretty much standard wolf list then, right... when hes using his powers rember a few things, first, your phsycic hood. second as he has one he can block your powers too, soo dont rely much on your cover save and try to take real cover that he cant just turn off, but have it as a back up plan. next jaws, does not affect jump infantry. it lists certain unit types in its profile, and has been faqd to include jetbkes as it is a subcatagory of bikes but it does not affect jump infantry, which are a different unit type catagory and are not infantry. so youll have more problems with the other powers, specially the one that makes the unit count as moving in difficult terrain, as that makes us have to take dangerous terrain checks which is far worse...
after that just fight where you norally would, but making sure you get the charge for furious charge as otherwise the advantage will probably be the wolves by the time you take casultys etc. really thats all i can say to help you though your army is small and compact and you need to keep it that way when fighting, if you split up and spread out the wolves will take you out piecemeal.
oh ya and come on the reds!
Should work fine. Let us know how the match goes!

Ya sure I'll let you guys know
Thanks again for the advice nat01, the guy that im playing is pretty fun so it wont be an intense adrenline pumping game but should still be interesting. Should my snipers go for his Long Fangs because I see them causing the most problems for my army (compared to the other units of his army). Once again, this is the first time I'll be playing this army. Where should I post the report, just here and make it not detailed or what???
what to shoot with the snipers will depend on what he does feild and where it is when you fire. personally ive never done a thing with my sniper squad, but in theory, if he beings thunderwolves shoot them( toughness5 still wounded on a 4+, whoop) but only expect a wound really at most on average that will likely be saved. their real purpose is to hold objectives its a boon if they actually do... anything... of course a pined unit of anything at any point is really what you hope this unit does anyway...
The real reason why I got the scouts is just cuz I needed to fill up 100 points with a solid choice and didnt know what else to get. Devastator squad would only be able to get one ML so the scouts with Snipers, camo cloaks and ML looked like a better choice plus when combined with the plasma HG they are backing up my army.
Any good tips before the match or anything units I shud switch around???
at 1k, i think i would have made a similar choice. try it, let us know how it goes and whats what with how it plays and we can give you pointer probably based on that. if you have a copy of your list beside you during the match you could note beside units how they do during the game, such as sanguine sword could have served the libby better, or the scouts in wrong position, forgot to scout move etc. based oon that for the next game you can rejig your list to see if you can make it better or not...
