Welcome to Librarium Online!
This is my first ever shot at playing a Spacemarine army. Tell me your thoughts and tips to help me make a good start.
I am using the traits from the codex to change the army slightly. I have decided to use the "No mercy, no respite" trait allowing me to give furious assault skills to tactical squads and assault squads and im using the "take the fight to them" to allow tactical squad members to swap bolters for 2 close combat weapons.
In addition to this im opting for the "Eye to eye" downfall.
Captain - Storm bolter, power weapon.
Honour Guard - Ancient, Champion, 2 Honour Guards.
5 Marines armed with 2 close combat weapons
1 marine armed with melta gun
Squad has furious assault skill
Razorback Transport armed with Twin Lascannons
4 marines armed with bolters
1 marine armed with plasma gun
1 marine armed with missile launcher
5 man terinator squad with assault cannon
5 man assault squad - Veteran Sgt with power weapon
Squad have jump packs and furious assault skill
This gives me a total so far of 1026 pts.

Can you take honor guards as a non-Unltramarine? I do not think you can.
<span style='color:blue'> Die Infantrie -
Die Konigin Aller Waffen
The Infantry -
The Queens of the Services</span>
<span style='color:red'>Durch Wehrwillen zur Wehrkraft
Through military will to military strength</span>
<span style='color:gray'> "In a man to man fight the winner is the one who puts an extra round in his magazine"
-Field Marshal Erwin Rommel</span>
If you are going to select advantages/disadvantages off the traits list, then you cannot take the Honor Guard because they belong to the Ultramarines, which is a force that doesnt have access to those trait advantages/disadvantages. So they need to go if you want a customized SM army.
The assault squad is actually a "fast attack choice", and you should probably make it bigger if you want it to survive. A Chaplain could also replace your Captain as your force leader and be used with the squad to give it much harder hitting power.
You may also want to read some of the tactica documents that Chaosbrynn has posted up in the Space Marine forum about supplying your sergeants with power fists and other ideas about squad composition; I found them informative.
They are located here --> http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=29910 (Index Of Space Marine Articles and FAQ's)
You cant take an honour guard and even if you could dont take it because it costs to much to be used in 1000pts.
Drop the captains storm bolter and give him just a bolt pistol instead. He neads some sort of invulnerable save so give him a Iron Halo or atleast a combat sheild though it doesnt work against shooting.
As for your 1st Tac squad i would rop the razorback in exchange for more marines.Make that squad a 8-10 man squad and give the serg a power fist, keep the meltagun in there if you want although psychologically see the melta will see the squad get alot more firepower.
Your 2nd Tac squad is also very small and would add more numbers to them aswell.
I find terminators to be a bit of a point sink in such low point lists and normally wouldnt find them worth it.
I would once again add more numbers to that assault squad as its far too little and with a little shooting it with be reduced to 2-3 men left if your lucky and that wont do that much in combat apart from the power fist.
You lack numbers and anti-armor.
Maybe you should put in a predator annihilator with lascannons all round. That will give you the aromr punching power you need.
Please note that there is a specific format for titles in the army list forum. I have edited your thread to comply. Please be sure to read the sticky named "Read this before posting" at the top of this forum before posting any more threads.
[point value] Army - any other info
Just a reminder that there is a specific way to format titles. We do this so that the search function works and it is important that everyone follow the same format. Some examples:
 Tau - For tounrnament play
 Chaos - Khorne Combat patrol
 Space Marines - Space Wolves
Eldar - My first Ulthwe list
Space Marines - I need help with my Raven Guard
 Daemonhunters - Puritan
As you can see, the point value comes first in square brackets, with no letters or special characters in the brackets. Next comes the army name. Not the sub-army such as a specific chapter or craftworld, but what overall army you are playing. Last, after the all important hyphon is where you say what chapter and any other things you would say about your list.
Just a reminder,
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
I realised after reading through the rules again i had jumped the gun with adding traits to the Ultramarine army. Cheers Guys.
My overall goal in playing this army is first to find a army i like to play with. I didnt want to take tanks. I fancied the idea of using a small elite force that looked very ornate hence honour guard.
After thinking about it, im scrapping the close combat tac squad and replacing it with a 10 man squad with missile launcher.
Im adding an extra man to the assault squad.
I think power fists is a good idea so im giving one to the assualt squad sgt, i may add some more in along the way.
