    [2000] Space Marines - All infiltrating army

    Retooled, and enlarged on my earlier list. The anti-nids trait is because there are a couple of nid players at the store, and seem like they'd be a rough matchup for this list. Tell me what you think...

    Chapter Traits
    ->See, but don't be seen
    ->Suffer not the alien to live(Tyranids)

    During non-alpha missions, I only place the whirlwind and land speeders during regular deployment. Should be easy to setup a denied flank. :cool:

    I personally don't care for the mine version of the whirlwind, with your entire army deploying forward, it seems that its going to inhibit you just as much or more than it would the enemy.

    If you are going against Nids, infiltrate is probably the best way to let them assault you quicker. The best defense against nids is lots of bolters and some sniper rifles, or lascannons.

    Actually, you are mistaken. The castellan does not hit friendly troops. I can actually have a squad sitting in a mine field, and the field will damage enemies that assault the squad.
    There's a whole faq on it by chaosbrin.

    My plan vs nids was to deploy in cover near objectives or the table edge (if no objectives), and castle. Wear down the gaunts with bolter fire. Then, in close combat, i'll hit on 3's due to the chapter trait, and get first strike due to cover. Plus, my marines are heavily assault oriented. The meltas and powerfists will be nearly useless versus gaunts, but should take out MCs. The castellans should be quite nice vs those big gaunt broods, too.

    There are currently 3 heavy bolters, a whirlwind, 2 assault cannons, 2 plasma guns, and 39 bolters in the list. I have access to lots of lascannon models, a 5 man sniper squad, and a landspeeder typhoon. Ran out of heavy bolter models. :o How would you suggest fitting more anti swarm stuff in?

    Being out of heavy bolter models or liking your terminators kinda kills this idea, but lightning struck my brain so here it is;

    If you wanted more anti-swarm, you might consider swapping out the terminators and captain for more men. One way you could do this is to take 3 squads of veterans, 5 each, armed with a plasma, heavy bolter, and bolters. You get 50% more range (important for fast moving critters), and the increase in shot volume at 24" will make up for the lost "pop" of the assault cannons, especially if you are gunning down mass quantities of lighter targets. Under 12" even more so. The veterans can also all come in with infiltration vs other armies so deep striking mishaps wouldnt be a problem, plus more models, more flexibility during placement. Just a thought. ^_^

    You would lose some ability to h2h the big nids; and that could be bad if your opponent made a MC heavy force.

    you might also consider dropping a mult-melta or two from those speeders, and go for the tornado variant. rending weapons are great =0 from just one tornado, you could throw 7 dice at a nid swarm.

    Sangreal: Unfortunately, i don't have any tornados. I do have a typhoon LS, which is cheaper and seems better for that role. I mean, almost no nids have 32 inch range. I can sit 32 inches back and rain down heavy bolter fire and a twin-linked template just about every turn with no return fire. The tornados gotta get pretty close (deathspitter range).

    Sig121: I like the veterans idea, might do that.

    Also, thinking this over... The command squad should have meltas. That way they can shoot and still charge. Might move the plasmas into vet squads, then convert some more meltas. Thanks for the feedback, all.
