    [2000] Space Marines - Mech!

    Since the rhino got nerfed, there are tons to be had for cheap. A list to give them a good home:

    Traits
    Take the fight to them.
    Have pride in your colors.

    More of a vindicator rush than a rhino rush. They will screen the 5 rhinos. Speeders to cut down on the opposing shooty tanks. All the troops are kitted exclusively for cc. All have a Ld of 9 or better in case of pinning checks.

    Nice list there, if i could afford the money for all the rhinos and FW vindicators id do a mechanised list. However i think you lack enough support fire. As cool as vindicators are, chances are they wont make up there worth before getting shot up. What you are presenting to your opponents is so many targets. They shoot the rhinos to stall the infantry attack and have vindies and LS to smack them up a bit. With so many targets you cant lose. However id also have a predator in there for one of the vindicators to provide cover cover fire for you advancing troops.

    My 2 cents.....

    Ello,

    Never played much of a Mech list, as my opponents are Eldar and Tau....they pop Rhino's like tinfoil. Anyway....

    hmmmm...Good, but as soon as that Rhino goes 'POP!' he's going to be a sitting duck. Maybe give him some added protection?

    While you're vet and command squad will 'melta' away, having plasma guns here i think is a problem. You're geared up to get into CC, and with Plasmas you have to choose if you're going to fire or assault. You may want to convert to Meltas, or save some points.

    Ok, now this is all out Cheese :p . It is fair enough in the rules and all and I'd certainly play you, but some people would seriously object.

    Secondly, it puts you in a bit of a bind. The Demolisher cannon's only got a 24' range. All you need is a lascannon or railgun shot and that Vindi is toast. Also, while the demolisher is a very powerful and large template shot, it's just one shot. Whereas, a Predator has multiple guns, and is much more sure of hitting with it's twin-linked turret.

    Finally, all you need for a Vindicator to become useless is a Weapon Distroyed result. At least with a Pred you hopefully have two sponsons to use for a while.

    General Comments

    I personally think this army lacks anti-tank. Yeah, I know you have three speeders with Meltas, but they're too fragile and only have one shot. I like the idea of a CC focused army, but why not go the whole way? Get Furious Assaul for all your troops, as you want them to be in CC quickly.

    Next, what with the focus on CC, you don't really have a very strong anti-infantry fire base. Yes, if you get into CC it's all good, but for the most part your squads will be in Rhino's with only a Stormbolter each to harras troops. Your speeders will be tank hunting, and yes, I know your Vindi's will take care of any infantry...or will they? :rolleyes: A few missed 'to hit' die, or an enemy that's willing to sit out of range and shoot will spell BAD in capitals for you.

    Anyway, I'd really try this army and see how you go. Perhaps you could vary things up, have a few smaller squads with Razorbacks or something? Maybe you'd even dare the Land Raider, although a lot of players don't like them.

    A vind may move only up to 6" if you want to fire... And I do not think this will be enough for screening rhinos.... I believe a mix of predators (anhilators & destructors) would be better...

    Definitely a very innovative idea here. Im not a big fan of vindicators, and you seem to be lacking a bit of anti-tank, but against anything but IG armoured company or perhaps eldar you should be able to get your close combat squads in close enough to do a butt-load of damage before the enemy can wipe out your vehicles. If they focus on the vindi's at first, the landspeeders will melta the hell out of them, and if they go for the speeders, the vindi's and rhinos will be up on them NLT 2nd turn. Overall I think its an interesting concept that may be challenging to play against.

    Then those people are sore losers.

    You have nothing in this list that shoots more than 24", a lot of things are never going to do anything for three turns. I'd replace a vindicator with a Predator.

    I like the vindi's because they cause a lot of fear factor. My HS choices need to be tanks that will be targetted over those vulnerable transports. I think the vindi does that better than a predator(destructor of course).

    I have a Tau army list to consider going against:

    HQ
    Some Battlesuit Shas'o dude

    Elites
    3x Crisis Battlesuit Squads

    Troops
    Kroot

    Heavy Support
    3x Hammerheads w/railcannons

    Worst-case scenario for your army. Otherwise, I say go for it.
