Well, this is what I plan to build up to from my 500-pt list. Some things have changed, mainly Billey being Promoted to a HSO... well, here it is:
HQ: Heroic Senior officer Billey armed with a storm bolter and power weapon, bionics, carapace armor, trademark item, krak grenades, and a refractor field.
Staff: Plasma gun dude
Veteran Medic armed with a bolter*
2 Veterans armed with Bolters*
Attached Commissioner with a storm bolter, power sword, and bionics
= 207 pts
Anti Tank squad with lascannons- 110 pts
Total for HQ platoon: 317 pts
1st platoon Command- Junior Officer Ryan, armed with a laspistol , Powerfist, Carapace armor, bionics, and melta-bombs 80pts
Staff: four Guardsman armed with meltaguns
Priest armed with eviscerator and purity seals
Total for command: 208 pts
1st platoon squad one: rocket launcher, plasma gun : 85 pts
1st platoon squad two: same as above: 85 pts
1st platoon squad three: same as above: 85 pts
Total for first platoon: 463 pts
2nd platoon command: Junior officer Sam, with storm bolter and cc weapon , 3 vets armed with bolters and frag grenades*, veteran medic person with a bolter = 76 pts
2nd platoon squad one: Flamer =66 pts
2nd platoon squad two: same = 66 pts
Total = 208 pts
Armored fist squad: Veteran sergeant Bobby with storm bolter and power sword,
Heavy bolter, grenade launcher, frag grenades
Chimera with hull-mounted heavy bolter and a multi-laser, extra armor,
And smoke launchers = 93 pts
Total for armored fist squad: 196 pts
Armored fist squad (same as above, but Vet. Serg is named Jimmey) =196 pts
9 roughriders with shotguns, two with plasma guns, Veteran sergeant Duane with plasma pistol and cc weapon = 116 pts
9 roughriders with shotguns, two with grenade launchers, veteran sergeant Frank with a storm bolter and a power weapon = 112 pts
9 roughriders with shotguns, two with melta guns , veteran sergeant Eathen with a power weapon,Medallion Crimson, laspistol, melta-bombs, and carapace armor = 136 pts
Total for fast attack: 364
2 Basilisks with indirect fire= 250 pts
Total: exactley 2000 pts
Model Count: 122 models
* When upgraded to veterens, the Codex, says the guardsmen have acess to the armorey, so I figured I'd give them Bolters

I think its a cool list, looks like your opponent would have alot of solid shot rounds flying at him. I like how most of your rough riders have shotguns too.
Just for everyone to know, I didnt make this for competetive play. You can tell from the amount of Crap I've loaded on all of my officers.

Try no to use grenade launchers, they are the poorest special weapon in the game, try to shoot for more plasmas and meltas.

But there like, the coolest weapon in the world... especially on TimeSplitters 2, where you can shoot flare greandes. ^_^
Ok, got rid of the powerfist, replaced with power sword and the Medallion Crimson. Better?
Fluffy yes, better no ^_^
It's not very competitive (the points for bionics and grenades can be spent better elsewhere) but it would look cool on the table top.
One suggestion though, name your vet. sgt Jimmey, Jimmy. I like that spelling better.
They shall be my Imperial Guard and they shall know some fear...
This list is hillarious! I want some rough riders now! anyways, I would definately consider using one squad of roughies with spears, they pack quiite a punch.
Try putting the lascannons in the anti-tank squad in the platoon squads, they're much more safer in their. plus lascannon anti tank squads are everyones favorite target.
get rid of all the junk on the HSO, with the new mixed armor rules that carapace armor is useless, and the refactor field is pretty bad to. look at it this way, anything that tries to charge your squad CAN take it. focus on shooting.
I semi-agree with wolfy, gernade launchers are crap. but they are cool to use, they make niffy conversions. shoot for marine killers, meltas, plasmas
Power weapons on your veteran sergents are not a good idea. remember this, CC= Dead
If you drop enough cc stuff, you may have enough points to upgrade your armored fist squad to a veteran squad in a chimera. if you do this get 3 plasmaguns in there or a lascannons or something of that nature, something scary. on this note, I would also in your case try and get some squads with nasty weapons in chimeras. that way you can truly follow up on your assaulty guard theme.

no its not crazy rough riders until u have guys with xenomounts,carapace armor and lances.
then when you have them riding around when marines open up on you with an h bolter you can scoff and say +3 armor save baby!
no offence but you need lances
they are the ultimate termi killers
(hit on 4s wound on 3s power weapons)when charging
your guys are little more than guardsmen with shotguns in combat
and we all know how excellent guardsmen are in combat
