plz tell me what you think as these guys will hope fully meet some tyranids in a few weeks.
My first thought would be: You're probably gonna get your ass kicked. My second thought is: You're definitely gonna get your ass kicked. Guard don't beat tyranids by fighting in close quarters or hand to hand. Guard beat Tyranids by avoiding close quarters like the Black Plague or the Inquisitor with a heat rash. Guard beat Tyranids by bringing massive ammounts of heavy weaponry and rapid firing troops to bear on the gaunts and fast moving stuff, and then gunning apart the large creatures and synapse. 4 heavy weapons and a Hellhound plus some flamers is basically the same as bending over and hanging a sign on your ass that reads "Insert chittinous talon here."
How can you say that list is gonna lose? Not only does it have Eldrid in it, but it's got his brother and his son too. That's three, three, three times the Eldrid for triple the tyranid busting power!
If you like, I can write a jingle for your army, absolutely free of charge.
I have to agree with Sokhar on this one. About the only thing I like on this list is the Hellhound. You need a platoon with HB"S/Grenade Launchers in Every Squad. A Grenadier Squad with two Plasma Guns could be good. Even, good Lord a Mortar Squad against nids. But Close Combat is IMO, a real no no against a wicked CC army. You also need some Lascannon HW Squad for Killing the Hive Tyrants or Carnifexs.
Heres a quick list for you:
JO Iron Discipline, Bolter
Lascannon team, Sharpshooters
Mortar HW Team
JO, Bolter, Iron Discipline
Two Squads of 10 w/Heavy Bolter and Grenade Launcher
Platoon 2, Same as Platoon one
Thats what I would take in 1000pts against Nids.
"A love for tradition has never weakened a nation, indeed it has strengthened nations in their hour of peril."
Sir Winston Churchil
riiight, have you heard the use of this army, 'going INTO the tunnels and whiping out nids' that means getting up close and person al with out the messy busi ness of close combat, as almost all the units have flamers, lots of gaunts and stuff, put into a tight space by my few heavy weapons, and those few heavy weapons can take out a few heavy creatures, and then my flamers will kill loads, and as their (hopefully) gonna have hardley any gaunts in synapse range, alot of guants trying to run away , thats the plan ne way... lol
Riiight, because you'll only ever run into Tyranid players more than willing to play in a silly environment that will give you the sole advantage. In fact, you're so damn clever you should be out smiting your enemies, why bother getting assistance from silly people like us who obviously can't comprehend your tactical genius and skillful use of the all-powerful flamer?
...Im pretty sure he was being sarcastic, sokhar.
As for the listorz... it wont have a chance in hell of beating any competant Tyranid player.
Get rid of the powerfists, plasma pistols, and whatever other fancey equipment you gave your officers, and get stormbolters instead. Or dont give them anything at all.
For anti- MC power, bring two squads with las/plas.
Leave the rest of your squads with HB and grenade launchers.
Bring a few Russes, as large S8 templates are devestationg to everything Tyranid.
Also, get rid of the flamers. There hardly effective against any Hormagaunt-heavy list.
Just my two cents...
u lot don't know what a themed army is, it's really fun to play with this army, and it won. ha. and my opponent was a GW staff member, the manager actually, he said that it is unusal and it is hard t0o predict what it is gonna do next, pull out or take the advantage and leap over some barracades and FLAME 'EM ALL TA DEATH!!! MUWA HA HA HA HA!! but seriously, i won there wern't a single 'nid left.
I know what a themed army is, and anyone can win one game. If you weren't interested in feedback then don't bother posting here and wasting our time, because typically "themed army" equals "weak but occasionally fluffy list played by person who will not actually take any useful advice offered, even when solicited."
i have to disagre with you sokhar, an army doesnt have to be ****e to be themed or fluffy. i refuse to play unless i have a good reason behind my army........ but in saying that it is harder to make a good army when you have to impose restrictions on yourself.
why post this list if you dont like what we are saying??? you dont have to agree with all the critiscism but for @#$# sake take it on board. honestly your list will get murdered against any competent nid player unless you are extremely lucky....or he is drunk i love fluffly armies and i think you have put alot of thought into your fluff but by changing a few things they can still be the nid hunting warriors you want them to be but the fluff will actually fit their effectivenss on the board.
hellhounds are good against nids............
 sorry i couldnt be more positive
