Welcome to Librarium Online!
This is the list I've been using in tournaments at my local club. I have played eleven matches against everything except Tau, and have won all of them.
The matches are played on a 48" by 48" board, with lots of LOS blocking hills, and Forest areas. The longest stretch you can see through is usually about 26".
Reclusiarch, Terminator honours, BP, Jump Pack, frag grenades, 122 pts
This guy joins the assault squad, and with the 3 plasma pistols and the powerfist, can almost always take out a Tactical squad per turn.
Dreadnought, venerable, TLLC, ML, tank hunter, extra armour, 170 pts.
This is my favorite model, partly because I made him look so cool with extra armour and trophies of his previous victoms, but also because he blow up tanks like you wouldn't believe. My favorite Elites choice.
Tactical squad x5, Plasma cannon, 95 pts
Tactical squad x6, Plasma cannon, Plasma gun, 120 pts
The reason why I chose Plasma cannons over Lascannons is because you generally can't see very far in our matches. I look at it this way: a plasma cannon can kill about 1.5 times as many Space Marines as a Lascannon, so it would be 1.5 times the cost if not for the decreased range, strength and the chance of overheating. In these matches, the lascannon's range is lost, and enemy squads are generally grouped together about 1" apart, so the Plasma cannon is a better buy here.
Assault squad x8, 2x Plasma pistol, Veteran sergeant w/ Plasma pistol and powerfist, 226 pts
Ravenwing Land Speeder Tornado, Assault cannon, 80 pts
These are very useful in these battles, since terrain becomes a big hassle and I need some mobile units. The Land Speeder usually circles about 20" away from its target and the Assault squad attacks the nearest infantry units it can reach.
Devastator squad x7, 4x Missile launcher, 185 pts
These guys are a key part of the firepower in my list. They take out low AV vehicles and Space Marines, while usually staying in a corner where it's hardest to reach them.
ARMY TOTAL: 998 pts
This is my powergamer list in small games. In anything larger, I will proobably use ravenwing instead. My only problem is that I roll a sickening amount of 1's, so overheat usually gets me (in the last 3 games I played, I rolled a 1 to hit and a 2 for armour save). However, that is simply luck, so not much can be done about that tactically, other than to remove it.
Hiya, nice list
I'd like to query if you've lost your Assault Squad sergeant to overheating at all? Seems to me to be a dangerous ploy that may loose you your powerfist. A lot of the advice on the board I've been reading is yes, go for plasma with your standard marines, but avoid it with ICs etc.
Also what do you use to take/hold objectives? I know the speeder would be great for challenging objectives near the end of the game, but your other tac squads need only loose 3-4 marines to be 50%down.
Finally, with the mentioned limited range, would you consider arming your Dreadnought with an Assault Cannon? With tank hunter, it'd be hitting at ST7 with a chance at rending.
nice list. could very easily be made into a non power gaming list for 1500 points.
I've never lost this guy to overheat, and he is my favorite non IC or vehicle model. In one game, he killed 6 Necron warriors, 2 Wraiths, and the Nightbringer. He's my lucky model. On a further note, he holds his gun sideways gangsta style.Originally Posted by zenBoy
If he ever dies from overheat, I will drop it to a bolt pistol and use the points elsewhere. On one occasion, I made the chaplain go away from his assault squad and singlehandedly hold control of the objective while the assault squad took on some guardians with Starcannons. On the last turn, I moved the LST up to the objective too, and the dreadnought spent the entire game foot slogging but shooting as well. Also what do you use to take/hold objectives? If I need more units to head to the objective, I'll send the 6 man Tactical squad since it can fire its Plasma gun while moving. If that fails, it pretty much means that I've lost.
Also, I should note that some of the hills are high enough in some areas for the dreadnought and sometimes the Devastator squad to see over any LOS blocking Terrain.
Nice List, balanced enough in my opinion and not too power gaming. The bread and butter Assault Squad/Devastator Squad is nicely backed by Plasma, I love Plasma.
I rarely play 1000pts prefering 1500pts or combat patrol.
Does your opponent always seem to include loads of stuff for thier points? I always see it on the table and say "how am I going to kill all that?"
High Marine Counts is good, I whish you all the best.
For the Lion!
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
Good thing that you moved the LST there, since IC's aren't scoring units.Originally Posted by Ezekiel1990
Pretty good list anyway, should make Chaosbrynn cry tears of happiness.
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
Lol, the list does indeed make me happy. But then again, Ezekiel here is one of my foremost proteges and I would expect no less from him. Good list Zek.Originally Posted by Viktor

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
Yeah, I found out when the game ended. But the Dreadnought made it too, and was completely unharmed.Originally Posted by Viktor
If I don't choose to play Ravenwing, I'll add in a 306 pt Ravenwing bike squadron and some more Land Speeders (and add another guy to the assault squad) to get to 1.5k. Me encanta cosas que van rápidamente.
Speaking of which, I have to go do my Spanish homework.
Hey, like your list, it’s great!! I’m playing a list just like it. Just a couple of questions/suggestions:
Why do you give your dreadnought ea?
I allways give my cc-squads frag grenades, I don’t want them to strike last were they could smash my opponents squad first. I seldom have the luxury to charge a unit that isn’t behind cover.
Secondly I use a thunder hammer instead of a powerfist for my cc-squad. Allmost every battle I am to face monsterous creatures and nearly every time a fist will leave one wound for the turn after I charge, so, a hammer it is! The 15 points extra for the hammer will at least save me one marine next turn.
For my chaplain, if points left, I give him melta bombs so in case I face a lot of vehicles he can leave his squad.
I am planning to use a attack bike with multi-melta instead of my LTS. It saves me 10 points (for blades of reason + meltabombs) and gives me a more durable unit which is worth the points allways.
Umm, glad you like it, I'm surprised you could dig it up...Originally Posted by Van LeeuwenAssault squads already have frag grenades.I allways give my cc-squads frag grenades, I don’t want them to strike last were they could smash my opponents squad first.
