A few friends of mine are having a game soon. I am teaming up with another DH player at 750 points each vs. Orks and Chaos. Now I was wondering, how would use 2 DH armies against 2 different armies to your advantage?
I was thinking maybe one radical and one purtan or something?
Are Termies too expensive for 750pts? Are GM's too expensive also, even though, technically it would be 1500pts .
I was think also of maybe two nearly identical armies made up of the follwoing:
5x Ists + GL
5x Ists + GL
10 GK's (inc Justicar)
Total, nearly 750.
What do you think?
In short, I think that termies are too expensive for a 1000 point army, let alone a 750 point army.
Having 2 different DH armies is a good way to flaunt restrictions placed on one army, such as only one Officio Assasinorum Operative, but make sure you have a good base of troops.
Have a good whack of grey knights, cut back on the termies, make sure you have a good few dreadnoughts, flaunt restrictions, work as a team so they are essentialy fighting one 1500 point DH army, and have fun.
Well a problem I seem to have is with IST's. They seem worthless. I only have them in there to get two troop choices. Should I like equip them with meltas or something?
A squad of 5 IST's won't last at all. Any advice?
Also, what about my inquistor? I only have him aswell so I can get the callidus assassin. is there any good ways to spruce him up?
Yes I too share your hatred of I.S.T's, they just plain suck. They are only good for specialised roles, such as mounted tank hunters with meltas. If you're just taking them for the troop choices, I say have 2 vanilla 5 man squads, that's 100 points, big whoop. If you want to make them effective, it's gonna cost alot of points, points which you need for other things in a 750 point army. Do you feel its vital to have a deep striking squad of GK's? I was half thinking of getting rid of those IST's as you suggested, but I would have two 5 man squads costing 300 while a FAGK squad with 10 GK's and 2 squads of Five IST's costs 375. A saving of 75 points.
But what use would you make of two small GK squads like that?
I just glanced at my codex for a minute, but how about teams like this.

10x Grey Knights
10x Grey Knights
-2x Grenade Launchers
Like I said I just came up with these in a couple of minutes so feel free to change whatever you like.
