1500 pt Dark Angels Army, with Ravenwing (Friendly)

    Howdy guys,
Ok, so I designed this army, and I have yet to use it. I really like this list, it has all of the units I like, and it seems to me like it would work well together, although it could be tricky. let me know what you guys, think, or how to improve it.

    HQ:
Master with sword of secrets, jetpack, bolter pistol

    Elites:
Dreadnought mortis with tl autocannon, smoke, and Extra Armor
    Tehcmarine with servo harness

    Troops:
2x 5 man tac squads with 1 plasma cannon each
5 man scout squad with 2 snipers, and missile launcher

    Fast Attack:
10 Assult marines, with meltabombs and 2 plasma pistols
    Ravenwing LST, AC and MM
    Ravenwing LST, AC and MM

    Heavy Support:
Predator Annihilator with sponson Hbolters, extra armou, smoke, HK missile
    Whirlwind
6 man dev squad, with 4 missile launchers

Yeah, that adds up to 1497 pts, and I think it will work well. I don't infiltrate scouts unless I can put them on top of a really high building, and other wise I plink fire with my tac squads and dev squad, while assult squad, LST's and and HQ go at it in close range. The predator is designed to be able to follow my close comabt team, and give support, and the tech marine goes with it. The mortis can go as well, but mostly stay behind and poops out 4 little pies a turn.

Alright lets clean this up a bit.

    Elites:
Dreadnought mortis with tl autocannon, smoke, and Extra Armor
    Tehcmarine with servo harness
Start by ditching both of these.
If you want a dread, the normal one, with assault cannons and CCW will do just fine, give it a drop pod, and maybe a heavy flamer. Perhaps better for this army would be a TLLC/ML, venerable, Tank hunter.

    Troops:
2x 5 man tac squads with 1 plasma cannon each
Another man with a plsama gun would be nice for these squads.

5 man scout squad with 2 snipers, and missile launcher
Ok, all should be snipers, except missle lancher. 6 men at least, or ditch em.

    Fast Attack:
10 Assult marines, with meltabombs and 2 plasma pistols
    Great ditch melta bombs

    Ravenwing LST, AC and MM
    Ravenwing LST, AC and MM
These are ok, but HBs would be better. Let the assault cannons handle light vehicels, and the HB will help a whole lot with troops. Plus you already have a bunch of Anti tank.

    Heavy Support:
Predator Annihilator with sponson Hbolters, extra armou, smoke, HK missile
Dont buy HK, waste of points.

    Whirlwind
    ok

6 man dev squad, with 4 missile launchers
two more men gaurding the MLS

Master with sword of secrets, jetpack, bolter pistol
Alright, only grandmasters can hold SOS. It would be way less points to take a chaplain, who would probably the make the rest of the squad so much better, that the lack of SOS would not matter.

    Good Hunting.

All of Forged's points are excellant.

I would say ditching the scouts entirely for annother of the same tactical squads would be a good move. With only a couple of squads you might be better inclined to take a lascannon, I love Plasma Cannon but you only need a couple to do thier job. Lascannon's wound TMC's on a 2+ and have better armour busting charecteristics.

It would be worth dropping 1 or 2 of the Assault Marines to get a powerfist weilding Sgt, Sgts with powerfists will kill (mathematicaly) about 6 times as much as one of thier squad. (4 powerfist attacks=2 dead SM) and (6 men x3 chainsword attacks=2 dead SM).
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!

    Howdy,
Ok guys, thanks for the replies. OK, I've got some questions for you:
I didn't think that you could have more than 2 snipers in a scout squad... This guys are unquestionabbly staying in, sorry. I have an addiction to carapace armor, and these are the only fools that the Marines have that have them... call it a fetish.
The other things, ok, I thought that according to the new SM codex, the Grandmaster was replaced with the SM master from the new codex... I didn't know we could still use the DA specific units like that. Also, on the note of anti-tank. My usual gaming partner has an obsession with tanks. His SM army (BA) runs a predator, a land raider, and 2 dreads, in 1500 pts. His 2000 eldar runs 2 Fire prisms, a Falcon, and 2 wave serpents. Are you sure that I have enough antitank, with only my 4 MLS, and Predator?
On the note of the Powerfisted sergeant, i'm kinda farted around about the rules of those. He hits on initiative 1, but no armor saves? correct me here.

For the sake of DA, Masters count as Grand Masters, Commanders count as Masters.

I would listen to Forged on all his points. I would definetly add a veteran sergeant w/ powerfist to the assault cannon. Because of the new assault rules, non-independant characters cannot be singled out in assault, so your sergeant is guranteed to safely use his powerfist after enemy attacks. A powerfist can really ruin someone's day.

If u feel like more AT firepower is needed then equip all ur tac squads with Lascannons instead of plasma cannons. Then make your Dread into the tank-killing horror with TLLC, ML, Venerable and Tank HUnter. Sure it costs 165pts but its got a Str10 TL tank-buster...
Drop the HK missile on the Pred, not worth it, get another marine into the Devs to guard the ML guys.

MLs per turn, will sink just about anything, use the dreadnought with TLLC/ML tank hunter, venerable, if your worried about tanks. You may have up to 10 snipers in a squad, but no other models, or 9 snipers 1 heavy weapon. Ect. Do not mix weapon types, hence make them all snipers, or dont bother taking them, with the exception of the heavy weapon, of rocket launcher to add some kick the squad. This also makes them good against light vehicles, and side armour. To be honest i dont know about the grandmaster rule any more, are you taking this to a tourney? if not dont worry about it.

IF you need anti tank. Take more lascannons in tactical squads. Agaisnt eldar, melta weapons are not very good, since you can never get a penatrating hit, (if your hes any good.)

And the heavy bolters will be way better againts his infantry, on your skimmers. If you want a tank popper, deep strike 1 skimmer, with melta gun only. 65 point skimmer for a landraider will teach him a good lesson. Another good anti tank squad, is a bike squad, with attack bike, these bad boys can tubro boost behind cover the first move, then pop a tank next turn. Very effective.

    Ok, Thanks guys.
In cased you hadn't noticed, my Texan background was kinda infulencing what I picked, I went for the big guns. OK, I'll take a look at it tonight, do the powerfist thing for sure, that is just beast. I don't know about the lascannons in the tac squads. I really liked those plasma cannons last time, against his meat wall and even his fire dragons. Another question I had was about the dreadnought. Can I buy the Space Wolves venerable dreadnought, and use it as my VenDread? I really like howmuch detaili that one has, but I didn't know what arms it came with.
    Thanks for the tips guys.....
ok if I made the following changes, what you rate it on a scale of 1 to 10:
    changed skimmer meltas to HBs
added the pfist to sgt in assult squad
switched mortis to vendread with tllc and ml
removed Techmarine.... (my favorite unit... poop)
gave scout squad 7 snipers and 1 ML
took HK off of the predator
threw in a few more troops to dev squad....

    let me know!
Oh, and sorry about the mispost the first time I posted.
