A long time warhammer player, having a large force of SM and nids, I have decided to create a WH army. This army I have just written down on paper, hoping for some pointers and tips from experienced WH player. It took me about a week, but this is what I got:
1 Canoness 110p
- Blessed weapon
- Inferno pistol
- Cloak of St. Aspira
8 Celestines 173p
- 1 Imagifier
- 1 Meltagun
- 1 Flamer
- Power weapon
12 Sisters of battle 169p
- 2 Flamers
12 Sisters of battle 163p
- 1 Flamer
9 Seraphim 244p
- 2 Flamers
7 Seraphim 189p
- 5 melta bombs
-1 Inferno pistols
7 Retributers 182p
- 1 imagirfier
- 4 Heavy bolters
1 Exorcist 135p
1 Exorcist 135p
8 Faith points 1500pts
Firstly with the HQ unit, I decided on a canoness with a Celestine retinue, this is designed as mainly a cc squad. I know people say not to mix weapons in a squad, but I have decided on a flamer and meltaun. The meltagun and inferno pistol will be excellent against things with high armour and tanks if my Tank hunting squads fail and a flamer is handy against horde armies. I would have liked to take a rhino for this squad but unfortunately I don’t want to take anything out so can’t squeeze it in.
Secondly the troops. You might say I don’t have a lot of troops, but I don’t think I need more than this. 2 flamers in the first and 1 in the second will pack a good punch, especially in horde armies.
Next, the Fast attack units. The first seraphim squad is offensive and will cause a lot of annoyance in my opponent. I would probably send them against things like devastator squads or to attack important enemy units.
My second seraphim squad is primarily tank hunting. I thought 5 melta bombs should be enough, but just to make sure I gave 1 twin inferno pistols.
Lastly heavy support. I chose a retributer squad with 4 Heavy bolters cause they can really reap havoc in a lot of units. I chose 8 man all up with an imagifier just to be sure they don’t fail those all important Divine Guidance Acts. This squad is to mow down enemy infantry.
And Exorcists! A lot of you will tell me that 2 are risky, as 2 lucky shots could take out 270 points in 1 turn! And you cant rely on them as they could fire any amount of missiles. But at only 135 points, I’ve decided these tanks are definitely worth the risk.
But I would be extremely careful where to set them up, in plenty of cover and any risk of danger to them would defiantly NOT go ignored. 2 of these tanks can definitely make a punch. With all those missiles, any enemy vehicle would not be able to survive and heavily armored units would fall likes stones, and in horde armies like tyranids, I would obviously target the larger creatures.
And I have a few questions about WH that the codex doesn’t seem to cover.
Firstly, Spirit of the martyr with cloak of st.aspira. It says invulnerable ‘normal’ armor save, but in this case the normal armour save is 2+ if she were attacked and if referring to the profile it usually says ‘unmodified’. Do I use the invulnerable save of 3+ or 2+?
Secondly, my veteran sister in my celestines has a power weapon and bolt pistol, I know it seems pedantic, but do I need to include the +1 for the bolt pistol aswell? as she already come with 1.
Lastly, I want to clarify something with seraphim, it says they may break off at the end of a round of close combat, does this mean they can break off after you attack them and run away before the enemy has their assault turn, or both turns?
Thanks a lot for your time. I’d love any response or suggestions to my army list, and hopefully some answers to my questions.
if the heroine must be in a unit to benefit from faith powers so it goes on magority(like all mixed armour) and no your vs comes with two pistols so replace one with a power weapon from the armoury and you still got one left over as she dosn't lose it. when it ses round it means complete turn in other words you charge or get charged then both you and your opponent make their attacks then if no one falls back you may run or my personel favorite hang around an extra turn and ditch at end of thier assault phase that way you can charge again in your turn or blast them with sisters and charge a different unit (insert evil laugh) about your list.... it looks good but i sugest you buy your caneness a rosarius and lose the cloak as when in unit she can't use any way ...may want to consider a normal power weapon and bolt pistol instead of blessed weapon as + 2 str isn't worth 20 points plus you get an extra attack
ah ok thanks, good point, ill do that.
