w/ Power Weapon, Iron Wolf Amulet, Frags, Plasma Pistol, Wolf Pelt
I do not give him a Thunder hammer, that weapon stays on my Wolf Lord as Araith suggested. Still wondering if I should drop the Healing Potions and Balms... I did on this list, now I'm wondering if I should put it back on
w/ DDCW+Storm Bolter, Assault Cannon, Extra Armour, Smoke Launchers
This guy has got an Assault cannon back on (instead of lascannon) He shoots a wicked total of 6!!! shots at 24" with 4 of them rending. He causes more damage than a Land Speeder Tornado cause of his BS5, Math says I hit whenever I don't throw onies. So the Random Number Generators love me And I always hit with at least 4 shots (statisticly 5) He also got his Smoke Launcher back on, since now, he needs it
4 Wolf Scouts
w/ bp+ccw, 1 Meltagun, 1 Plasma Pistol, 1 Power Weapon
Maybe adding scouts, equipping them with other stuff
9 Blood Claws
w/ bp+ccw, 2 Powerfists
Rhino w/ Smoke, Extra Armour
The Wolf Priest goes with them, I like this squad, could drop the meltagun though…
9 Grey Hunters
w/ bp+ccw, 2 Powerfists, 2 Plasma Pistols, 1 Meltagun
1 Wolf Guard Pack Leader w/ Thunder Hammer, bp, Wolf Pelt
Rhino w/ Smoke, Extra Armour
This Squad is more then capable of dealing with any enemy, I like the Thunderhammer on the Pack leader. I tend to charge this squad in everything alive (including avatars and wraithlords)
10 Grey Hunters
w/ Bolter+ccw, 2 Powerfists, Plasma gun, Plasma Pistol, Drop Pod
Squad is going to drop in the middle op my opponent rapid firing, then charging next turn, shooting next turn, or receiving the charge, no matter what, these guys rock! With Araith's Plasmagun suggestion these guys blow!
w/ Turret Mounted Autocannon + Lascannon Sponsors.
No matter what you say, this is the cheapest anti tank tank, and it rocks!
5 Long Fangs
w/ Pack Leader, 2 Lascannons, 2 Missile Launchers
I like this gun combination, it hits hard, especially since I split fire first turn to kill 2 targets (hard with las, soft with missile). Also when I split fire, I like to shoot a transport in pieces with a lascannon, and then eat the remnants that escape up with the frag missile (or a load of heavy shots ).
Well, there you got 1500 points of mechanized Space Wolves. These guys are set up using the Reversed Flank Technique.
Note, I sometimes switch a unit that has a rhino with a unit in a drop pod.
One of the Tricks I have for that is putting the Bolter carrying Grey Hunters in a Rhino with the Wolf Priest. In battle I move forward with the unit on a moment, and my Wolf Priest Splits up from his unit, then the unit rapid fires, and my Wolf Priest charges in the remains.
To do this technique I buy the Wolf Priest a Jump Pack (10 points for Space Wolf)
Well, comments are appreciated, I hope you help me or did already
now, I have 2 points left...
I could buy Searchlights!
nice solid list... plenty of bodies mobile... i like it.
one thing to piont out is that SW IC's can't take jump packs; only wolf guard leaders attached to jump pack blood claws(could be wrong- havn't got codex in front of me) check the small print in the armoury!
secondly even if you can give a wolf priest one; he cetainly can't travel in a transport with one check the discription for jump packs in the SM codex i'm pretty sure it says some thing like '... models equipped with jump packs may NOT ride in transports' and on the turn that a unit disembarks they can not charge (except from a land raider) so even if he were allowed a jump pack and could travel in a transport he could still not charge on the turn he disembarked.
re the list the only change i'd want to make is to give the wolf scouts frag grenades and up the number to six so they suvive a little longer... maybe a wolf guard leader... and i think plasma cannons are good on the ven dred.... and i've found a rune priest casting storm caller to be more usefull with blood claws than a wolf priest but all of that is personal preference.
your right about the jump pack, it was my uber-tactic in 3th edition.
GOt carried away with it
Normaly I make my scouts stronger, but for what they have to do (be a distraction or a pain in the butt if he forgets them) and they cost 86 points, that's nowhere near what I lose when opponents charge or assault something else of me. They are great at tying up shooting squads, and against my regulair Space Marine opponent will even earn it's points back when they wipe out the squad, not to mention the havoc they create! I might change the plasma pistol for another powerweapon, but I like to shoot the extra bullet in case they are out of range of charging.
About the Rune Priest, he WAS better with the blood claws, nowadays you don't get first strike, because cover doesn't count when charging anymore!:realmad: :realmad: :realmad:
I was thining of putting an assault cannon on the dread again, it can tear open stuff if I have to, the autocannon wasn't good enough for me with ap4, the heavy bolter just doesn't win from the assault cannon, the plasmacannon is nice but I have to shoot stuff to bits first, like avatars and wraithlords, and it seems that plasma only hits once covering a big guy! So I like the Wolf Priest better. (and I made a nice model with fluff on it too :tongue
Thx for comments.
stormcaller doesn't let you strike first on the charge?!?!?
where is that coming from? codex says you get all effects of being in cover faq doesn't countrmaned this and states that if your opponent is in cover you strike simultaniously.....leading me to think you would stike at I 10 on the charge.....
if i'm wrong can you tell me why?
if thats the case i need to re-think the rune priest and then you're correct the wolf priest is prob better for leading the blood claws.
as a distraction the four scouts are fine and cost little enough that your opponents may not realise something is missing from your force..... making them even more of a surprise!

yeah you are right, but only on the 3th edition rules.
4th edition raped Space Wolves with Rune Priests, since we do not strike first on the charge anymore. So you were right, but not anymore.
The Rune Priest is still nice, but only when you foot slog the army (5+ invunerable safe against shooting). But that's the only thing.
I think you deam nicely of my scouts. Actually, in my 750 point list I have 2 tooled up scout squads that really scare my opponents, that's why my regulair enemies pump everything they have in these 4 guys till they are all dead
Nice list Wulfbanes
As for the scout conundrum, I use a four man squad with a melta gun, a 66 point squad that will heroicly give there lives to wipe a large tank of the face of the battle.
Go with the assualt cannon on the ven, with rending it can kill land raiders, terminators, it is riducously versatile. And with 4 shots at BS 5 you shouldnt be missing. its also significanlty cheaper than the lascannon
Only a few prefer liberty - the majority seek nothing more than fair masters
Fine list indeed.
I agree with bicycle repairman on the Ven Dread, because he's in a Drop Pod.
I'd not take a thunder hammer for the WP. SW have plenty of powerful weapons and the powerweapon is for free. Essentially it's a 40 pts thunderhammer.
I'd only recommend giving him a thunder hammer in 13th Company, when accompanying Wulfen. But then too, only if really needed.
I'd really give the podding GH a plasmagun. Will really augment their shooting. In this case it'd be better than a meltagun. You might loose a model, but the chance is very small, and it can just pay of very good the way they are used.
Why don't you give the Predator extra armour? To translate literally from Dutch , it costs an apple and an egg.
Wulfbanes: please show me where you've read that you dont get to strike first with stormcaller anymore!
This is news to me and I've read all there is (or so I thought)
First Thanks Bicicly Repairman and Araith for the review.
I give my Venerable dreadnought the Assault Cannon back, the Predator Extra Armour (I forgot, will you ever forgive me ) And added the plasmagun on the droppodding Hunters. Now I have points to spare. Considering putting them in my scouts, or to give plasma pistols to the dropppodding grey hunters as well... What do you guys think?
Completly off topic,
It;s my birthday today! yay!
On-topic a bit more:
Araith, how did you know I was dutch too
It stands next to my name (voor een appel en een ei )
At Ikterus, I just checking for you, wait a sec. I will pm it to you.
Send you the message.
and Araith, I did not put Extra Armour the the tank this time, since I though he wouldn't need it anyway today, since he us just being 125 points of 2 lascannons and an autocannon with av 13 MUHAHAHAHA.
And those things don't drive to often
well happy birthday!
could you please also let me know where it says storm caller dos'nt let you strike first?
