second one for sure however I would take a chaplain instead of master because SoS is way overpriced and a chaplain would be more effective :sigh: Alas when will the new codex arrive and bring us useful captains and masters :sigh:

    Er, have you learned nothing?
    HQ:
-Master, w/SOS, bolt pistol, jump pack, melta bombs
Never give your HQ melta bombs, always give him frag grenades, and terminator honnors.

-Ven Dread, w/extra armor, smokes, and tank hunter (standard weapons)
If its armed with an assault cannon, it doesnt need venerable, or tank hunters, simply a drop pod.

-2x 5 man tac squads, with a las cannon each
Definatly get these, although im supprised you dont already have them.

-2x 6 man tac squads, one of the guys in each squad has a plasma gun, and one in each squad is a vet sergeant with power fist. These two squads are mounted in razorbacks with TLLC, extra armour, and smokes.
Mother of god these are horrible. I have to be harsh in order to save you money, and your soul, do not listen to foul whipsers of chaos, razor backs are terrable, sgts dont go in shooty squads!

If you want assaulty troop squads, use melta gun with 10 man, sgt with powerfist, and drop pod. Your far better of. However, having a couple of plsama guns would be nice, as well as melta guns, so buy 2 blistors of those, if you dont have any currently.

8 man scout squad, with 7 snipers and missile launcher
Alright i suppose, these are spendy (money/point) for the effect though.

-2x ravenwing land speeder tornados (assault cannon and hbolter)
Good job. These are your best choices.

-Predator destructor, with sponson heavy bolters, extra armor, and smokes. (this is the autocannon tank, not the TLLC tank)
This tank is horrible, dont ever buy it.

This list is better, but not quite their yet. However, the vehicels will give you rock laucnhers to give to your marines to make a 4 man ML dev squad. This is way way better then the list above.

SOrry to be harsh, but maybe youll understand someday when you see someone take a razor back, and your pop it with the heavy bolter on your skimmer, and realise how easy it was to take that squad down. Peace

List 2, I would love to get to play your 1st one, those Razorback squads are awful, if you wanted you might get away with Plasma Cannon, Plasma Gun and No sgt popping the Razorbacks out to take pot shots on turn 1.

    Destructors are god awfuly bad.

Good post Forged, showing the bretheren the path of righteousness.

ok, so razorbacks are really that bad.... they guys over at B&C where saying they were good.... hmm..... ok, I don't like to have alot of ground pounders, I like my men to be mobile, but I just don't have the money to do ravenwing, or all mounted army. what if, I took out the razorbacks, filled up the squads as much as I could, and put them in drop pods? would that have about the same effect? let me go remake it.

Hey, I think I fixed it.
    HQ:
-Master, w/SOS, bolt pistol, jump pack, Terminator Honors
    Elites:
-Ven Dread, w/ Missile Launcher, extra armor, smokes, and tank hunter, Drop Pod
    Troops:
-2x 5 man tac squads, with a heavy bolter and plasma gun, each.
-2x 10 man tac squads, one of the guys in each squad has a plasma gun (or melta, same price), and one in each squad is a vet sergeant with power fist. Both squads are put into drop pods, at the normal 30 pts each.
    Fast Attack:
-5 man assault squad, with vet sarge with power fist, 2 marines have plasma pistols
-3x SM Bikers, 2 have meltaguns.
-2x Attack Bikes, each has multimelta
    Heavy Support:
-Predator Annihilator, w/Hbolter sponsons, extra armour, and smokes, and HK missiel
    POINT TOTAL: 1503

I have played 3 games with my Land speeders now, and they just die on the first or second turn, maybe getting a kill or two each, not near their point value. Then, last game, I played with bikes, and they killed easily 3 times their point value, taking down to LST's, and a Leman Russ. I AM going with the bikes, no questions asked. I really don't like 10 armor, and would much rather have a 3+ invulnerable save. I think the drop pods on the assault squads will work well, and I have high hopes for them. My friends and the local hobby shop that we play at don't require WYSIWYG, so I can change those squads from plasma guns to melta guns as I please.

    HQ:
-Master, w/SOS, bolt pistol, jump pack, Terminator Honors
    Frag grenades.................................................!

-Ven Dread, w/ Missile Launcher, extra armor, smokes, and tank hunter, Drop Pod
This doesnt need a drop pod. And further more, it will be worse with one. otherwise its an excellent choice.

-2x 5 man tac squads, with a heavy bolter and plasma gun, each.
This should be 6 man, incudling plsama cannons and plsama gun. Plasma cannons look way cooler, so buy them instead of heavy bolters, not to mention they are better.

-2x 10 man tac squads, one of the guys in each squad has a plasma gun (or melta, same price), and one in each squad is a vet sergeant with power fist. Both squads are put into drop pods, at the normal 30 pts each.
Ok, dont ever use them as plsama guns only melta guns, so you might as well model the correct choices, and proxy the worse choice, that way youll more often be using the correct weapon.

-5 man assault squad, with vet sarge with power fist, 2 marines have plasma pistols
Stop listening to those kids in your hobby shop, listen to the people on LO, we want you to win. They want an easy opponent. Assault squads should be 10 man, 8 minium.

-2x Attack Bikes, each has multimelta
SKimmers are way better. You just need to know how to use them. These are 1 wound, 2+ armour save style, so they are better then normal bikes against heavy weapons, but worse against small arms. This squad is generally over kill to any tank, plus you alrady have a great anti tank dreadnought.

    Heavy Support:
-Predator Annihilator, w/Hbolter sponsons, extra armour, and smokes, and HK missiel
    POINT TOTAL: 1503
First, dont ever let me see you take a hunter killer missile again. Second devs would be much better. 4 MLs, 4 bolters.

Get good first, they take deviate from min maxing depending on your playing style, but first you must know the basics. Also read the order of the white sword clan, and post there more often, they know dark angles through and through, and will teach you why LST are one of the best, and cruelest choices in the game. I have also resently writen a small peice about them in there as well. so go read it. Finally consult the tacticals, read them all, once, then read them all again, advise in there is golden. Peace and good hunting.

Hmm... I am getting two conflicting views, one from B&C saying keep the bikes, and then the one here, saying drop the bikes, for LST's. So, I am going to go with you, kinda. What if, instead of the other squads, the ones with heavy bolters, and the assault marines, I did this (note: I still have to work out the points): Put the master on a bike, not master of ravenwing, just a master on a bike. Give him SOS, I think I can do that.... Keep the bikes, 3 Sm bikes, and 2 Attack bikes. Put back in the two LST's. Take out the 2 5 man Heavy Bolter squads, and the assault squad. Keep the deep strikers, but model them with meltas. Take the HK off the tank, and give it lascannon sponsons? did I miss anything? oh, the drop pod on the dready needs to go, I see the correctness in that now.... anything else? too fast attack oriented? I don't care about any of that number of model crap, I have seen 2 squads of Army Rangers hold off a city for 8 hours..... It isn't quantity, it is quality.

OK, got the points worked out:
    HQ:
-Master, w/SOS, bolt pistol, Space Marine Bike, Terminator Honors
    Elites:
-Ven Dread, w/ Missile Launcher, extra armor, smokes, and tank hunter,
    Troops:
-2x 10 man tac squads, one of the guys in each squad has a plasma gun (or melta, same price), and one in each squad is a vet sergeant with power fist. Both squads are put into drop pods, at the normal 30 pts each.
    Fast Attack:
-2 LST's, with assault cannons and heavy bolters
-3x SM Bikers, 2 have meltaguns.
-2x Attack Bikes, each has multimelta
    Heavy Support:
-Predator Annihilator, w/Hbolter sponsons, extra armour, and smokes
    -7x devastator marines, with 4 ML's
    POINT TOTAL: 1598

I think this list has what I want: lots of fast moving units, but still a punch. I don't understand enough about this game to say that it is a good army, but from my limited understanding, I would have to say, that I do like it. My only worries, are these: My drop podders land on top of an enemy unit, killing themselves(doh!), or, if I have too much anti tank, and should switch the multimeltas on the attack bikes to heavy bolters.
Look, forged, I really respect your list making ability, otherwise I wouldn't have put the LST's back in, but dude, As you have seen, I am pretty stubborn (hence, the chapter I picked...) and I really wannt try this with the bikes, all of them. Unless you are POSITIVE, that this list will never work, and never win, I think I am going to try this. I'm 16, I've got lots of time to change it up before I go to college, and have to pay for bills on top of my hobbies... Thanks for your imput, and I really need some tactical advice, not just list advice.

Sometimes it just takes a few games to understand, so get out there and start playing.
