Okee, has anyone tried this yet. I've got the bucks, and I love the Termies, but would it be effective? Plan is: Deploy 2 x HQ Squads, and 2 x Troop Squads, and then Deepstrike in the rest :w00t:

Let me know what you think, and Thank you in advance...

Matters who your fighting...if they're long range people, you might be able to pull it off. If they're dying to get into melee with you, I could imagine them ripping you appart.

    List is quite possible,
    your concerns are:
    1. Ap 2, so run away for eldar and dark angels
    2. Any Chainaxes or Great Weapons from Khorne and Orcs
    3. Mass amount of attacks on you (tyranids/ig/Orc)

So, against almost all space Marine armies your safe
Personaly, I wouldn't bother termies, let alone a whole army of them.
They are way to fragile to my taste ( I mean expensive, expensive, and to easy owned by 2 tactical squads with plasmagun and lascannon)

One concern I have is that prefered enemy skill. If you go by the book, you're going to have to model your army to show what the prefered enemy is. Which means it'll be completely useless quite often. The other option is to just happen to change the race to match what you're fighting (when you're fighting xenos) which is, at best, cheap. You could make the models customizable with magnetic heads or some such which would possibly be less cheap but more sleazy.

Wgat are those 'blades of reason' on the reclusiarch? Those are not from the standard SM codex, I think?

Blades of Reason is from Dark Angels wargear, for interrogator chaplains. They grant extra victory points, but don't add much to the stats or abilities...

As for playing dark angels; Why not go all-deathwing terminators? then you can skip on those scouts and the tactical squad, and that HORRIBLE rhino...

    A few notes:

Your tactical termies should all have 2x the heavy weapons. I.E.: 2x assualt cannons or 2x cyclones.

Assault terminators are BAD. They work great against oponents of lesser skill, but anyone who knows what they are doing will simply back away from the terminators while shooting them. I have seen it countless times. You would be FAR better off with tactical termies.

I would highlly recommend deathwing. Fearless terminators are what you need when fielding many small squads of them.

The scout squad will not last long enough to use the teleport homer. They are too small.

The tactical squad in rhino is a waste of points. Rhinos are terrible and worse still the squad they are carrying is far to small to be effective.

Blades of reason are DA only item and can not be used by any DIY chapter. Truthfully, you may as well be playing Deathwing as the 2 elements of this list that wouldnt fit in a detahwing list are your least effective units.

Try to keep to 1 HQ untill you get to at least 2000 points. You could really use those points filling out your squads.

There is little to no reason to take preferred enemy. There are much better traights and options you could be using. Such as deathwing, or almost any other traight.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:

    1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant

    2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers

    3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC

Thank you all for your replies. The are all very valuable. On the side. I do not have a Dark Angels Codex, but is it true what Rogue-Angel said, that I wouldn't need the troop choices. I think I misread his post or something, otherwize there is something in the Codex I don't know about....

He is correct. DA have 2 very special "wings" of their army with VERY modified FOC's.

    Deathwing:

Comprised completely of terminators, dreadnoughts and land raiders. Termies as troops.

    Ravenwing:

Comprised completely of speeders, bikes and attack bikes. Bikes as troops.

Hence if your going with all terminators, go deathwing as you wont be forced to field anything other then terminators if you so wish.
