I tried to create salamander strike force, both with strong command characters and some antitank firepower (Tau and IG possible oponents) I dont like min maxed squads and armies with lots of copies of same (cheesy) unit so I tried to make nice, original but still competitive army
(Cleanse and purify, never despair, eye to eye)

IMO you need at least one tactical squad- they really are the backbone of SM, otherwise that is a good list, maybe switch the librarion for a master (IMO that's more fitting with the salamander's fluff) and if you have the points spare master craft the chaplin's power weapon (I forget the actual name).

I agree about the Librarian switching for the master, more fluffy... I don't know how it would work, but if you have imperial armour, and it is allowed in the tournaments there, you could actually switch your venerable dreadnought with TLLC and ML to a venerable dreadnoguht with MultiMelta and ML for 10 points less.... taht would be salamander style, but like I said, I don't know how effective it would be.

Pssst.... give me kudos....
u should drop the chaplain to the one with 2 wounds... personally i think plasma pistol is not really worth it for characters... the chaplain should go with the assault squad, while the librarian should get the command squad... 2 meltagun is quite a lot, but if u miss, u have a backup... if u are keeping your librarian, maybe get 'fury of the ancients'... like the 'fury of the salamander' in codex armageddon... pick either veil of time or might of heroes, as u coz use them both in combat... u need tactical squads...
What would seem both fluffy and effective as the core of a Salamander army would be 2 such units:
10 Marines w/ 2 melta's/flamers
Vet Sarge w/ thunderhammer, bp
They capture the (I believe) Salamander spirit of relentless close range fire fights. And podding in, they're a good 'strike force'.
With your Dread you could try a similar thing: a multi-melta and a heavy flamer and pod him in.
And what about giving the assault Vet Sarge a thunderhammer too?
Thunderhammers on vet sergeants are cool idea...i have to convert some after I buy new assault termies.
But Thunderhammers are a lot more expensive than powerfists, I know that Razz wanted a fluffy army, but playing too fluffy an army will not always get you vicories, I play Salamanders myself and had a very fluffy list and never seemed to win (especially with my multi-melta dreadnought!), I would like to think that playing with the Drawbacks and Advantages of the Salamanders traits (i.e.- cleanse and purify and never despair) that you will be able to use a balanced list that is competitive and fun.
Feel free to post yours army list ;-)
Well generally, I play at the 1500 to 1850 pt level. So I have a master list of around 2500 pts, I am also playing in a map based campaign with a friend so here goes:
Chaplain/MOS- BP, crozius, termie honours, jump pack, frag grenades, rosarius
Librarian/Epistolary-Force sword, psychic hood, Storm Of the emperors wrath, Might Of Heroes, Master Crafted plasma pistol, Termie honours, Frag grenades, Iron Halo
6 Terminators-2 assault cannon, Sgt w/power sword, All have furious charge
Veteran Squad-5 marines w/ Bp's+CCW Sgt w/powerfist+BP, 1 marine w/lightning claws, 1 marine w/plasma gun, all Infiltrate
Venerable Dread- Assault cannon, heavy flamer, DCCW, smoke launchers, extra armour
Tactical Squad-Vet sgt w/master crafted powerfist+bp, 2 plasma guns, 7 w/bolters
Tactical Squad-Vet Sgtw/master crafted power fist+bp+teleport homer, 2 melta guns, 7 w/bolters +rhino
Tactical squad-Vet Sgt w/Master crafted powerfist+bp, 1 marine w/plasma gun, 1 marine w/Heavy Bolter, 7 , marines w/bolters
Assault squadX2-Vet sgt w/powerfist+bp+melta bombs, 2 marines w/plasma pistols and CCW, 5 marines w/bp+CCW
Land speeder Tornado- Assault Cannon+heavy Bolter
Predator Destructor-w/lascannon sponsons, extra armour, smoke launchers
Vindicator- Demolisher cannon, smoke launcher, extra armour, storm bolter
As you can see, my list doesn't conform to the force organization chart, but I can pick from whatever I want on it to form a balanced army that can take on anyone relativley well, I don't walk all over my opponents, but they don't walk over me either. I think that it's fairly fluffy without being useless.
