    Emperors dragons 1500

    i am about to start a campaign against tau and tyranids and here's my army

    My army has the following traits:
    Take the fight to them
    cleanse and purify
    we stand alone
    eye to eye

    Librarian (the more expensive one)
    storm of the emperors wrath
    might of heroes
    master crafted force sword
    storm bolter
    terminator armour

    tactical squad 1
    8 space marines, heavy bolter, bolters

    tactical squad 2
    8 space marines, heavy bolter, bolters

    Tactical squad 3
    vet sgt with power fist, bolt pistol
    5 space marines
    boltpistols and close combat weapons, 2 plasma guns
    Drop pod

    Tactical squad 4
    vet sgt with power fist, bolt pistol
    6 space marines
    boltpistols and close combat weapons, 2 plasma guns
    Drop pod

    dreadnought
    assault cannon, heavy flamer, dreadnought close combat waepon
    drop pod

    dreadnought
    twin linked lascannon, missle launcher

    vindiactor

    whirlwind
    8 devastators
    4 heavy bolters, 4 bolters

    suggestions appreciated alot!

    It is of the utmost importantce that you field bolters against nids, even while in drop pods, because the turn you arive, you really need to blast them good.

    Librarian (the more expensive one)
    storm of the emperors wrath
    might of heroes
    master crafted force sword
    storm bolter
    terminator armour
    First he needs a unit to join, currently the best one would be terminators. Master Crafted is normally not worth the points, instead id ditch might of heros, and master crafted and pick up veil of time. Drop the terminator armour, and go with the normal powerarmour, this way you can sweep advance( very impornate against tau )

    Another thing you should strong consider is trading this HQ for one that will be more effective for you, that is a chaplain. More on this later.

    tactical squad 1

    I think there are better ways of getting massed shots on the enemy, i strongly advise you to drop this squad to a 5 man unit, one holding a lascannnon.

    I know your trying to make a fire base, but honestly much more effective ways of doing it.
    Same as above for suggestions about making it better.

    Tactical squad 3

    Drop pod
    Again, i would strongly suggest you field bolters, they will out proform bolt pistols and CCWs, when placed in a drop pod, becaue of the first round of shooting. Also, i would advise that you take melta guns over plasma guns, as if you field the plasma guns, you wont be able to charge if you shoot in your next turn with them, a melta gun however, could do just that. Finally, it would be nice to drop these boys near a tyrante, and pop to melta shots into him, followed up by massed bolter fire. And then finsih him off with the powerfisted Sgt, after you get charged.

    The reason for bolters is that you will hit on 3s, wound the same, and youll get the same number of attacks in the first 2 rounds they arive, assuming they get assualted on the turn they arive, which against nids, is a given, against tau, your powerful enough without the extra CC attack. Also this should be 10 man.

    Tactical squad 4

    Same as above.

    dreadnought
    assault cannon, heavy flamer, dreadnought close combat waepon
    drop pod
    This will do great against tau, but.. its dangerus to field such low armour against tau. However, the drop pod will provide some protection, but even so, id consider drop this for something else. Or only field it against nids.

    This wont be effective against either army, tau will knotch it out first or second turn, and it lacks numbers of shots to really do any harm to nids. Also, they bigger ones can still hurt 12 armour pretty easy, at range.

    This is just easy victory points for the tau. However it seems like it would be nice to have against nids, but really, all you need is a proper firing base to slow the nids down.

    Alright i guess, but you must add another devistator squad, with 4ML 4 bolters, or trade this one up for MLs with 4 bolters. Remember when missiles run out of targents against nids, use frag missiles, they are 6 AP, perfect for nids, and 4S so would wound easy.


    Lets assume you ditch the vindi, the dreadnought thats shooty, and reduce the tactical squads above to lascannons, plus you convert your HQ to a chaplain, and 1 marine out of the dev squad that gives you
    555 points to play with. I suggest you pick up the following: Chaplain jump pack, frags, bolt pistols, 3 wounds, terminator honours. Assault squad, 10 man, 2 with plasma pistols, 1 with powerfist. Then add the dev squad, 4 man bolters, 4 man MLS.

    Now you have a huge firing base, with some good counter charge, or forward charge against tau, with a little more mobility, and your drop pods are better supported.
