This is my first 1500 point list so be gentle . I am a 1500 point army versus two 750pt armies, Orks and Daemonhunters. I decided to ally with DH's to give me a bit more strength.
HQ-Heroic Senior Officer, Iron Discipline 75
SPECIAL WEAPONS SQUAD- Meltagunsx2, Demolition Charge, Meltabombs 105
COMMAND SQUAD- Plasma Gun 50
TROOP 1- Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun 85
TROOP 2- Lascannon, Plasma Gun 95
ARMOURED FIST- Flmaer, Vet Serg, Extra Armour, Smoke, Heavy Stubber 175
LEMAN RUSS- Lascannon, Heavy Bolters 165
BASILISK- Indirect Fire 125
HELLHOUND- Extra Armour, Smoke, Track Guards 133
HQ- Inquisitor Lord, Sagesx2, Mystic, Warriorx3, Plasma Cannon, Heavy Boltersx2 166
ELITE- Eversor Assassin 95
FAST ATTACK- Grey Knights x 8 225
DOCTRINES- Iron Discipline, Drop Troops, Special Weapons Squad.
That totals to 1494 I think. So what do you think? I was thinking tactics wise to send the hellhound and armoured fist squad towards the Orks while I use the assassin, basilisk and leman russ for Daemonhunters. I also had the idea of Deep Striking the Special Weapons squad near any tanks or dangerous squads.
Or maybe you have different ideas and/or tactics.
I am worried that he will use a Land Raider. What would be best against that?
Very nice, one comment though. The demo charge is for mass killing and meltas are for tanks and termies. to save points for more skome change the meltas to flamers just in case that hellhound goes down, that squad can wipe out a 200 point ork unit and it is only 82 points. Good luck
From what I've heard, special weapon squads arn't really worth it, unless perhaps suicide drop trooping them in. I don't think meltabombs on them is too good, since they are going to have a tough time getting close enough to do so (even deepstriking, since they can't assault on the same turn as DS)
I'd replace the hellhound with another basilisk, cheaper, and just as effective killing infranty and vehicles.
If they do get some Heavy Vehicles, I'd let my basilisks try to take themout early, while Russ takes on Infrantry with the battle cannon. with 750 points per team, they won't have too many points to pump out too much heavy support, and if so, they'll have not too many infrantry.
I'd actually try to stay put and hold a line of defence than dividing your forces into 2 armies.
"I like to keep this handy, for close encounters."
in my personal opinion, you don't have enough line troops. I'm not even sure your list is legal, unless AF squads count as a platoon on their own. but either way, regualar guardsmen are the meat of your army. drop the special wpn squad and take some more line guard. lasguns are horrible, but lots of lasguns are great. Also, lasgun rapid fire eats orks for breakfast, as do hellhounds in my personal opinion
Well it turned out that the Ork guy couldn't come, so it was my army versus a Daemonhunter army. Went excellently with a couple changes to my list (I Deep Striked a Command Squad with Meltaguns.).
It was so unbelieveable how I won, it was literally a victorious slaughter.
Even though he destroyed my Basilisk in the first turn without me even using it, it still went well.
Great list tbh.
