750 Championship Space Wolves, take II.

Ok, here's my new and, hopefully, improved list.

    Space Wolves 750

    HQ: Venerable Dreadnought
    [1] Venerable Dreadnought
    +Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon
    +Storm Bolter
    +Assault Cannon
    +Extra Armour
    +Smoke Launchers
    =163

    Elite: Wolf Guard
    [1] Wolf Guard
    +Power Weapon
    +Bolt Pistol
    =41

    Elite: Wolf Scouts
    [6] Wolf Scouts
    +2 Plasma Pistols
    +2 Power Weapons
    =124 Points

    Troop: Grey Hunter Pack
    [8] Grey Hunters
    +Power Fist
    +Power Weapon
    +Meltagun
    =171

    Troop: Grey Hunter Pack
    [8] Grey Hunters
    +Power Fist
    +Power Weapon
    +Meltagun
    =171

    Fast Attack: Land Speeder Squadron
    [1] Land Speeder Tornado
    +Heavy Bolter
    +Assault Cannon
    =80

This list is being semi-planned to fight the best guy at my local group, a Chaos player who usually takes two high-end Havoc Squads, some min-maxed CSM squads and a Terminator Lord. I'm going to use the Wolf Scouts and Land Speeder as kind of bait for his high-end Havoc Squads. If I haul ass into his zone with the Land Speeder and shoot up his Havocs, he'll probably lose a few Marines, and then be faced with either trying to kill a nasty unit that can only be glaced-so he'll have to put a lot of firepower into it-or shooting my Dreadnought and Grey Hunters, leaving, again, a nasty unit behind the lines. I'm going to capitalize on this by bringing in my Wolf Scouts behind his lines as well-on the charge, they'll get 22 attacks, 10 of them Power Weapons, PLUS the two Plasma Pistols.

Once the Havocs are gone, I'm not too concerned. The Dreadnought can take on his Lord-he doesn't give him a Power Weapon, so one quick wack, and he'll probably be down. The Grey Hunters can easily take on his Marines-the only upgrades he gives them are Undivided and heavy weapons.

Burn the land and boil the sea. You can't take the sky from me.

The list and tactics seem sound to me. Just two minor points.

I'd give the Wolf Guard a fist.

And against these opponents I think I would prefer a 'Speeder with multi-melta and a heavy flamer. The multimelta does wonders against marines and 'Nid MCs. And the heavy flamer at least as good as the heavy bolter, especially vs closely packed 'Nids.
Plus it saves 5 pts for the WG fist.
