    [1300] Cadian Urban Regiment

Hi, I'm new to IG (I play with SMurfs mostly, but I decided to try something new  ). Anyways, I created an army list, as I already have half of these models already, but I did not consider this before I spent mucho moolah on them :shifty: I'm also considering raising the 1300pts to 1500pts to accomodate another Leman Russ or 2 more Infantry Squads...not quite sure yet, so I'm 20pts over at this point. All comments/suggestions are welcome because I'm not sure I know what I'm doing. Thanks!

Either take an HSO or drop the Vox, SOers are not worth it. Go all the way to an HSO or take JO. I would take the Doctrine Iron Discipline, and all JOs, You will save some points. Drop the Medic, Master Vox, and take a Mortar to keep out of LOS. You should give all IG squads heavy weapons.

Take all HBs or all Autocannons, but don't mix them, it helps to keep your fire focussed on either infantry or light armour.

My opinion on snipers is don't bother unless you are alway playing against Monstrous Creatures. Otherwise drop this squad.

Give them either two Plasmas or two Meltas, but again don't mix. Add Deepstike or Infiltrate, or put these glory boys in a Chimera.

Again missing a Heavy weapon, Plasma Gun and Iron Discipline

The Strength of an IG army is heavy weapons. At least add a Heavy Bolter. Keep squads back in cover shooting. Moving guard squads are dead meat.

Missing Heavy Weapon, or drop with 3 Meltas or 4 Plasmas.

Definatly drop the 9" Flamer, and go with a Plasma Gun and a Missle Launcher. (a great combo)

It's important not to upgrade your IG vehicles too much. Add smoke and maybe EA, but drop everything else. A Heavy Stubber could be usefull on a Hellhound.

Drop the Hull Lascannon for Hull Heavy Bolter and save some points, and drop everything else but smoke.

Drop all but Indirect Fire. You can't fire other weapons when you fire Ordnance so your Heavy Stubber is better on the Hellhound.

You have the foundations for a good list, but to make IG effective you need IMO, HW's whenever possible, keep vehicle upgrades cheap, and either give your army very good leadership with Master Vox and an HSO, or quite good with Iron Discipline.

As a general note. Give all 10 man Infantry squads a heavy weapon and a special weapon. Give your command squad the same, or use them as drop-trooping specialists with Meltas or Plasmas to take out nasty targets.

For my vehicles, I bought them, assembled them to look sweet, painted them an Urban Camo scheme, and then decided to make an actual army out of them, so the tank accesories hafta stay, I'll try to make the most out of them tho  And I'm going to increase the pt limit to 1500pts, so i need another 163pts to fill up with...any suggestions? I could add 2 more INfantry Squads (1 to each platoon in the 90pt and 75pt setups) and that would be 165pts...so I'd be 2pts over....maybe?

Just because you have added the equipment on the vehicles, doesn't mean you have to take them for the points. I have Dozer Blades on a couple of my Chimeras, but I never take them for points.

O.K. Getting Better, a couple of things:

Give your Commissar a Power Weapon, you might as well have a better CC squad when needed.

I would still have three Heavy Bolters, but you might just have those models.

I wouldn't take the Vet Sgt in the Stormies unless you take a power weapon, otherwise a vet upgrade does nothing. You should add vox in these squads as well for LD10.

Move the Lascannon to a troop squad, and the Heavy Bolter to the command squad. That way the Lascannon will be shooting longer and not targeted out fast.

Other Infantry set up is good.

I still would drop the Track Guards on the Hellhound.

The Leman Russ kit is the only really bad set up in this new list . My Lemans have Hull HB, Sponson HB's, Smoke and that's it: 158 points. Yours is 45 points more than mine. You could buy a Sentinal for that. Improved Comms in really only good in a Drop trooping list or an all vehicle list, for yours it is a complete waste, as is the Dozer Blade.

Overall though, a world of difference vs the first one. This list will be way more competitive.

    Good Luck, Cheers, DH.

WOW, 1000 posts, I need some help.............
