Hey guys. Me and a friend are doing a semi-campaign series. Basic story is 'Nids are trying to eat this world, Imperial Fists are trying to stop them. Next fight is 1500pts, last 2 fights have gone to my marines. Keeping in mind this is going up against the bugs, any of you guys that have fought vs. them before that have any pointers feel free to speak up. Its light on AP 3 ranged and CC troops because I just dont think they will do well against the bugs.
Force Commander: Power Sword, Plasma Pistol - 85pts
2 x Dreadnought – 210pts
2 x 8 Tac Squads – 240 pts
Hvy Bolter + Plasma Gun - +30pts
2 x 7 Tac Squad - 210pts
Las Cannon + Plasma Gun - +50pts
2 x 2 Land Speeder Tornadoes: Assault Cannon/Hvy Bolter on each – 320pts
2 x Pred Annihilator: Hvy Bolter Sponsons, Extra Armor – 270pts
Whirlwind x1 – 85pts

if you go shooty, give HQ a storm bolter instead of bolt pistol, either way, he would be damn cheap without a Invernable save...? Maybe a Librarian with long range spell would be better.
Downgrade the annihilators to destructors.
Perosnaly, I would drop a whole predator as well in favor of another whirlwind.
With points freed up get all tacticals a veteran sergeant with a powerfist, so nids will have a hard time when they charged you and didn't eliminated the whole squad.
You do lack any large guys killing power...
OTher than that, nice list, and overal strategy is => mass-focus fire on the little guys, and the fast guys and genestealers (cause they are both)
Ok, Mod'ed the list to make 2 of the HB squads into Las Cannon Squads. Still fielding 10 Hvy Bolters, 6 Assault Cannon and a Whirlwind for anti scrub firepower, but I did get a bit nervous lacking in the AP2. Now with 4x long range and 5x short range AP2 I don't feel so helpless against say, some shooty fexes.
use that last fast attack slot you got by splitting one land speeder squad... i would recommand to drop one dread, and get scouts... they are a major speed bumps...
Personally i think the list is very nice on ranged firepower but a bit lacking in the CC department. Against Nids u really want to have a countercharge unit to keep those bugs off...if they get the charge, even power armour isn't gonna keep u alive for long. So have a unit handy to charge THEM first. I'd recomment getting an assault squad or maybe putting P.Fists in a couple of Tac Squads so that say, when his Hive Tyrant gets into CC it won't mow thru the marines. i find that dreds suck in CC against Nids...too much Rending around.
And for some TMC busting goodness, i think the all-lascan pred works best. This is one of the few occasions to use it...u hv enough anti-horde already with all those LSTs, HBs, bolters and Assault Cannons, not even mentioning the Whirlwind Template.
